How much space do you need?

I'm just thinking that you could put a subtle bonnet bulge in there without having to make it look like a tw*t mobile. Certainly a cheaper way of doing it until it gets running and you're sure it's a goer.

I agree ideally you wouldn't but it's a cheap way to test the theory and then wait for your neighbour to complain

How much of a pig is the chamber to make? I know a few people that could probably knock it up cheap with a design. Saying that if you're looking at casting then it wouldn't be cheap.

I think that would attract exactly the kind of interest that Tom is hoping to catch unawares!

Yes, but the thing is that most "bulges" have precisely feck all squared under them, unlike this which is actually required :)

The local ch*vs around here all seem to think they can have you in a race because you have a red I on the TDI badge, so I'm sure he would have plenty to catch unaware.

making it is the easy bit, and i'm certainly not making casting, i could also make it myself 'on the cheap' as you say, the problem is acutally fitting it in there and fitting it around everything else..

i really want to avoid making humps in the bonnet to fit stuff in, i want this car to look like the old ratbag rust-bum that it was when i bought it for £275 from that pikey in bristol

make one!

give us a shout if you need anything.

I didn't know Jason was selling a Felicia

Seriously though, I'm impressed you've got this far and which ever way you go it would still be impressive.

If the engine's physically in, could you put the manifold and plenum on "loose" (you know, just enough finger-tight bolts to hold it all together) and take some shots to show us the problem?

 As well as the local boy racers, I've seen a Gallardo, an R8 and a GT3 RS on the main road by our house recently. I wonder if the ch@vs try to race them??? :D

I'd only pay to watch if the ch@vs thought they could win.

can everybody spam somewhere else please:)

Sorry mate. :o

So what are you going to do then? MK III head, custom chamber or something else?

I'm sorry too - I only posted in here 'cos I'm interested in seeing what's happening to the Felly... :o

right, i've decided i'm going to get a mk3 golf cylinder head and use that. the intake manifold still wont fit under the bonnet so i'm going to do a cut 'n' shut on the manifold so i can use an audi throttle body..

i've sourced a cylinder head very cheaply, but it from an engine that has had a timing belt faliure so it needs attention, but i can re-build it back to original:)

found this pic on DILYSI Motorsport website, i think this is what i'm going to do to get it to fit under the bonnet, this is for the mk2 sidedraught cylinder head which has the injectors in the head rather than the manifold, the one i will make will have the injectors in the manifold, also i'm going to put the throttle body on the other end

£35 for a cylinder head with a 268 degree fast road cam, i've already sold the head on for more than i paid for this so basically it cost me nothing :D

yeah, looks ok to me too, the brown mark is just a paint mark, as far as i can tell by close inspection this cam had never been used, the geezer i got it from didn't know anything about it because he was selling it for a mate.

It was the brown splodge and a I agree apart from that it looks very good.

Bit of a bargain if it's just paint then :D
