Any ideas what's wrong with my VRS?

Can anyone help me please?

I was just driving down the road at a steady 30 when the car juddered and cut out and the steering was really heavy and not much brake power either. I managed to get it round a corner and tried re-starting...but just kept turning over with no signs of starting at all. When it cut out the ASR light came on, on the dashand was still on when I try re-ignition, also when I press the ASR button it still remains on. Thing is I don't hear the usual fuel pump noise etc when I turn the key.

Went back to my car about 4 hour later and still the same, but then I kept trying the ignition until eventually I heard the noise...the ASR light went out and it started!! Weird ...do you think my car has been possessed?! ;)

look up the brisky map of people with vagcom and get it scanned.

The ASR light comes on and stays on if a cylinder isn't working (based on my own experience!), but may do so for other reasons...

May be a jammed/dud fuel pump...

Had this happen to me while approaching a busy roundabout in an old shape Ibiza. Not a good thing. Definitely get it checked out, you don't want it happening at a bad time.

Since July my VRS has been fine but about a month ago when having a service I got Skoda to check out the problem again and they advised to change the fuel pump relay...so I thought all the trouble I've had previously had gone away. Until last Tuesday when my car wouldn't start again. Same old problem with the glow plug light not coming on and the ASR light showing on the dash. After about 3-4 mins of me just turning the ignition on and off (without turning the engine over) the glow plug light eventually came on so turned the engine over and the car started almost immediately.

The car was then fine for the day but yesterday morning I tried and guess what...same trouble and this time it took me about 20 minutes or more before I got the glow plug light on and it started straight away again.

This is a strange one for me and I just hope it doesn't happen again while I'm driving like it has done previously.

I'm taking it into Skoda again next Thursday so I'll let you know what happens.

What is the position as regards paying for this problem to be fixed as this will be the 3rd time they've had the car in for this problem? Will I still have to pay full whack?! as it hasn't been corrected as yet.

Thanks

Without a fault code readout it's difficult to say what the problem is. My money would be on the following

1: ECU relay intermittent

2: Fuel Pump Relay

3: Fuel Pump

4: Water in wiring loom

Took my car in last Thursday and it turns out there was a problem with the fuel pump relay again, so they replaced it again under parts warranty. Fingers crossed!
