what are the std ones on the vRS?

is it one that pushes one side which in turn moves the other side or is it one piston on each side?

Single pot.

Crap, but they do work :)

OT but I have some 4 pot's for a ZZR1100 that I never fitted :)

Nissin race calipers with adapters :)

Glad your happy guys :)

We are just tweeking the kit to fit under standard 16" wheels for the Fabia now too :)

Those Fabia photos looked mighty impressive

What's the estimated price and what sized discs would be used to fit under 16s?

I guess you haven't had chance to try them out yet being they need bedding in etc. just make sure you update the thread when you do

Ok, did the break in procedure last night and got them stinking hot, pushing them hard enough to get a bit of fade was no easy task driving within UK speed limits! The discs went blue with the pads smoking as the resins burned off :D.

They're now ready for anything I can throw at them, feel fantastic. They will most likely never get that hot again and no warping or my worst enemy - no soft pedal . As always with new fast road pads during break in procedures breaking performance was ruduced as the resins started to burn but there is so much power in these calipers the braking was superb still. After cool down - a little under an hour and the brakes feel so good. No more fade afterwards so bring on the Ring! :orb_jacks

Hi there, I'm doing my first trip to the ring next month and am wondering how my brakes are going to fair up? It sounds like youve been before on the standard calipers so just wanted to ask how you found them? Obviously you probably went in your Octy which is heavier and more powerful than my modded Fabia so its a bit harsher on the brakes - I also know your cant do continuos laps so there is time for them to cool off as well. I guess im asking if in your opinion the standard break setup is safe enough to get me 10 laps or so round the ring and back home with some enthusiastic driving?

Thanks for your help, John

Hi John, does your fabia have the 312mm upgrade already? I've been the past 2 years with the standard calipers and they do work well with good pads (ie ferrodo DS2500's) and discs. Problem is the heat builds up very quickly and the standard set up is not very good a disapating this heat. There are several long fast straights which do allow your brakes to cool but last year I burnt my hand on the alloy wheel after a fast lap

With a good disc and pad set-up, braking was good but I was experiencing a soft pedle towards the end as the brake fluid started to boil. And I was using Motul racing fluid!! I'm sure you will be fine - thousands go every year in standard cars and if it's your first time I doubt you will be pushing that hard. take it easy and brake before you need to incase they do start to fade. Last year I did half the lap braking as late as possible then started getting a little more coutious towards the end. Dont leave the handbrake on in the carpark either as this can boil your fluid and pad material transfers onto the disc which will give the feel of a warped disc.

I'd say get new brake fluid, good pads and see how it goes.

Hi there,

Thanks for replying, Im afraid the current brake setup is totally standard. Think I'll take your advice and settle for some performance pads and see how I go as the discs may be a bit of a stretch considering I'm having the timing belt changed on Monday as well, there's also plenty of wear on the current ones that are on and chances are depending how much beans I give it I may have to change them all when I get back anyway. Top tip for the handbrake in the car park!

By the way youre new brakes look seriously meaty. They'll be doing you proud on your next ring visit!

Wasn't expecting this thread to still be going! Thanks for reminding me about the guard dog. Just let him out the tin and he's a little bemused and in need of a haircut!

On a more serious note I got back from the Nururgring late on monday after testing the brakes out big time all weekend. They were absolutely spot on and probably up there with one of my favorite moddifications - of which there has been quite a few :D

I could go out on consecutive laps and have confidence late braking into a corner at 130 mph + without the slightest hint that they were not going to stop me. My freinds, one in a VX220 turbo and the other in an Ibiza Cupra cooked their brakes early on and had trouble stopping their cars on the drive home

Im a tough guy to please - but I'm very pleased indeed with this kit.

glad to hear it.

sounds like you had lots of funnnnnnn.

i gonna get this kit in the next few month when the money is there, in green thou.

oh n feel sorry for anyone who messes wi that guard dog

0A says hes cute :o
