Yeah, not being able to have images linked in Members Motors is a pain.

I think they can be in Project Journals, but then people can't reply.

EDIT - it seems the project journals page doesn't exist any more :(

Will have to just go through the thread then and upload attachments to the forum individually. :(

Could you not host it in a different part of Brisky? Perhaps putting a link to it in this thread? I didn't realise you couldn't directly link to images in part of the forum btw

There is no point Amanda, just wait for the inevitable for sale thread that'll be along soon. :P

:rofl:Sorry Tom, only kidding. Power to your elbow and all that.

I think I'll have to create a new thread in this forum area, but upload the images into the Brisky gallery. :)

Pah, I've beaten my 3 (or is it 4?) month average

In all seriousness, if I don't find a nice 540i manual then the 328 will be staying with me.

As an update, I got a car alarm (Toad Ai606) for Christmas that I've started fitting. Made a little bracket up so I could mount it alongside the air horn () in the engine bay, taped all the looms up so they look OEM and got the wiring into the cabin. Got the volumetric sensors plumbed in and fitted the new bonnet switch. Hoping to finish the wiring up next weekend

Bit of an update for today.

Clutch feel has been extremely erratic of late, sometimes biting near the floor, other times at the top of the travel. It was also a bit sloppy to engage. At the most recent RR day despite the clutch not slipping as such, it stank when it was run, so something needed doing. It had a replacement clutch kit fitted about 10k ago, so I was confident it wasn't the clutch itself.

So today I fitted a replacement clutch flexi pipe, the metal pipe between the slave cylinder and the flexi, and also changed the slave cylinder. The clutch delay valve sits between the flexi and the metal pipe and is designed to soften the blow when you are hard with the clutch to be gentle on the drivetrain/diff etc, so I didn't refit this. The job was a doddle, but for future reference, if changing the flexi, removing the chassis cross brace makes things a bit more accessible. If deleting the CDV, then I suggest you replace the short metal pipe between the valve and the slave, as mine was solid and sheared the pipe when trying to undo the union.

Feel is vastly improved now, its a lot more precise and it didn't smell when coming back after a blast. The bite is a bit higher than I'd like, but overall a pleasing result for not much cash! :)

Also, bought one of these babies to fit in with my X100 head unit  I'll fit this when I finish fitting the new alarm and air horn

Fitted some new tyres to the back yesterday, so now I'm rolling on 4 virtually brand new Falken FK452s - I really rate these tyres!!

And as the last yellow light is lit, I bought 8l of Fuchs SuperSyn 5w40 and some Denso Iridium plugs from Opie Oils, and genine oil and air filters from BMW.

When I was under the car I noticed the lolipop (rear wishbone) bushes are fubard, so I'll get some new wishbones and some Powerflex bushes fitted in the coming weeks too.

Oh, and tax this month .

Feels like I'm getting there with the car at last!

Bill for the month:

Falken Tyres x2 - £147.20

Clutch bits - £118.43

Oil & plugs - £99.89

Filters - £27.12

Tax - £185

Handsfree - £79.99

Total - £657.63

Moved this thread into Project Journals. :)

452's are good, had them on my Octy :)

Not-so-cheap motoring then Tom?

Well I've not spent anything for a few months, so not too bad. Tyres and tax are just running costs at the end of the day. I see the car as a keeper, so worth keeping it nice, and besides its hardly depreciating at £x00 per month! ;)

Sounds like some good improvements there mate, as well as a few upgrades :)

I've got the 300BT unit for my X001 and is handy

Well the new alarm is fitted, dead chuffed. However, it is now sat on Aimee's drive, engine running and doors locked waiting for the RAC

Muppetry , or a technical fault?

Well done Tom!

Saddly muppetry. I activated the anti-hijack, yet thought it was a good idea to start the car and close the door behind me when I'm 85 miles from home

Plank, lol!

All sorted now :)

The alarm has some great features. Anti-hijack (locking the doors when you pull away), panic mode, passive re-arming, window closure (yet to wire up), see-you-home lights (yet to wire up), pet mode, it chirps 3 times when you lock it if a door is open, 5 times if the bonnet or boot is open etc etc. Very pleased indeed.

Got the Alpine Bluetooth rigged in now too. Pretty basic functionality, and not the best search through the phonebook (you have to scroll all the way through it) but it certainly works well

Quite a productive weekend really :)

I thought they locked after 20secs of the ignition being turned on? I used to have an older ToadAi606 and always had problems in the winter as I'd always start the car up then scrape the windows and the doors would lock. The trick is to turn on the ignition with the drivers door open and this would allow you to open and close the doors until you drove off.
