Optimax for me, oh and Sainsbury's Super Unleaded when I was once really desperate

only a 4x4, but optimax only for my truck.

Nothing but Standard 95ron for me, been fine since new, now 33k miles.

Optimax for me; have notived a difference when I have put 95 RON in. Engine doesn't seem to run a smooth.

Atleast inside my Rs's tank lid(?) it says 98/95Ron wich I guess means that 98 is recomended eventhough 95 is ok. You can also see recomended tyre preassure. Am I the only one who has this sticker inside the tank lid?

I've got the sticker, but I don't know if it mentions 98 RON on it - I'd imagine not!

There's a VPower 99+ here in GR from shell, but it's 1.08Eur, when standard RON98 is 0.83 and RON95 is 0.72Eur.

Is it worth it? Well, I've used all three of them in a couple of different cars, and have to admit that if I had no idea at the time what fuel was used, I wouldn't notice it. Knowing that I have the expensive fuel in, though, is considerably biasing towards thinking the car runs better.

So RON95 for me (it's a 4x4 though ;))

I think we need some of that fuel from greece judging by its price. we pay over

Is Tesco or Sainsburies unleaded 91 or 95 RON (It doesn't say on the pump )? I filled up my 1.8t with Tesco's cheapest unleaded last week - engine didn't run as smoothly .Only filled up with 98RON since :)

Yes I have the sticker too , 98/95 ron gas and the tire pressures in KPa and Bar. I use Shell Optimax in mine which (i think) is closer to 99 RON. Incidentally i just had a run down to the North Yorks Moors Railway at Pickering yesterday , ave mpg was 38.3 down there and 38.6 back up on Optimax. (with some high speeds attained on the A19...sorry plod!)

I'm also stickererered :)

As for fuel consumption, i havent really had a good run yet, but i've seen upwards of 34.5 mpg on a run to North Shields at the weekend.

The blast thru Holland & Germany to Czech on friday should be a good indicator though :D

As for the A19, watch out for other RS's (Silver, and Stripey)... Cleveland Traffic Plod have at least 5.

So does anyone know what 'ron' Optimax is? I ask because I couldn't find a Shell station today on a little trip to Birmingham. I ended up at Tamworth services and though it pained me to do so, filled up with Esso's ordinary Unleaded. They did have Super Unleaded, is this really Optimax with a different hat on?

AFAIK Optimax is 98 RON, or maybe 99. Super Unleaded should be the same,

as it was originally designed as the higher octance version of unleaded.

Hmm...quite a pointless post, but I'm making it anyway to keep my average up ;)
