Just a quik post to warn all members in the Cleveland Police area Press Release - Cleveland Officers Warn "Kill The Speed"

Been out and about today and seen loads of marked / un-marked whizzing about pulling people up . Was over in Gt Ayton this morning just coming out on A173 the and there was an A.N.P.R van with about 4 traffic cars parked up a mile down the road , then nr to Teesside Park along the A66 must have seen 5 people stopped with traffic cars / un-marked .

Instead of them targeting cars on the main dual carrage ways why not hit the residential housing estates where the kids play .

Keep your eyes peeled and watch the clock

Because ANPR is largely used to catch criminals who use vehicles to aid their criminal activities up and down the country, and they tend to use big roads rather than housing estates :P

Can't help feeling an ANPR van and 5 T5's would be over-kill in a cul-de-sac :P

Just to add to Mr Monster's post,

I've been reliably informed that the local constabulary is having a crack down on speeding/dangerous driving. Obviously I'm not suggesting that anyone on here does drive wrecklessly, but it's worth knowing so we can keep an eye on our speed.

I`ve noticed a HUGE increase in speed mobile camera`s around here. The other day there was a copper with a speed gun on a housing estate.

Haven't really seen an increase of speed cameras on my commute, but most mornings I see at least 2 marked police cars parked up at the side of the road.

Never used to see any a few months ago.

Enfield Chase. Going up from Sainsburys`s "end" parked up on a moterbike just behind the first speed bump. Seen him there a couple of times in the past week.

I was on my way towards Stockton today (sunday) just approaching the new "Durham Tees Valley Airport" bridge / by-pass thingy on the A66 , saw the police Focus ST & Civic parked up in the lay-by , think people must think now the gatso,s have gone from that stretch of road the police ar,nt gonna be kicking about . . . Wrong , as the driver of a black Renault 225 found out today , i was doing 70mph and he blasted past me at well over 100mph , seconds later the ST over took me at ***mph :eek: (boy those focus can shift)

A bit further up the A66 the ST was sat behind him in the lay-by blue lights flashing "UNLUCKY" :D young driver looked well upset :(

I often get idiots screwing the nuts off their cars past my house :eek:as it is a long straight road and even in the very distant past when I used to "make progress" more than I do now , I had the sense not to do it in a 30 limit .......

Anyone see 5th gear last nite , that Focus ST vs the Astra VXR Special Edition , Vikki Butler Henderson said it was a much better car than the VXR & cheaper / handled better . . . but less bhp , but still beat the Astra round the track .

Think the focus looked the part

I drove an ST last week. I was at work so couldn't really 'test' it, but it did feel very competent. It's a good balance of agile handling and straight line power IMHO.

If i didnt have to travel so far for work i would seriously be looking at the new ST or even a petrol vRS (for the boot size)

I see Cleveland are hard at it today again , unmarked black mkII octy vrs flying about in Redcar / Stockton today , both times had someone stopped , dunno if it was the same vRS or not

Then about 11.30 on the A66 nr Mandale Triangle turn off there was a silver Focus ST / police bike parked up .

Not quite in Cleveland, but the M74 is being well patrolled at the moment by unmarked (mainly silver 5 series) cars

I have noticed they are starting to use more and more "Hot Hatches" which I'm sure is NOT to encourage boy races having a go!

I reckon they probably enjoy driving behind a fast car hoping that they will do the "hat Hatch" test

They have several ST's. I've seen silver and black ones.
