And to think they call all these space vehicles 'rovers' - it's no wonder they always fail. :D

wtf? I don't have a clue wot you mean plz elaborate

NASA has two 'Rovers' on mars at the moment and they keep breaking down.

Ahhhhh it all comes back to me, said the man as he pi55ed into the wind

Obviously you have never seem me drive my volvo round country lanes... i think john will concur that my driving style is not that of your 'typical' volvo driver

Nah wouldn't have kept up with you as these here Skoda's keep breaking down - still at least it's got a heated rear window to keep your hands warm when you push it.....

Don't you just love stereotypes ;):D

LAst volvo driver I met in person drove over me and smashed my shoulder - never even said sorry.

Hi gang.

I tried to fit the Eibach springs over the weekend to my Fab~VRS. There is a huge "torque" which holds the front suspension on and I have not been able to find the tool to fit it !! (fnar fnar)

How did you all do it?

Even the local Skoda garage admitted that they don't have the tool and "bodged" .... RSVP Thanks !!!

Not too clear about which bit you're referring to (as I'm not a mechanic) but the guy who fitted mine had trouble getting the bottom of the dampers out of the bit they sit in. There is no tool to do this easily and a hammer and a big bit of metal were required ;) He works for Seat btw! :D

Sounds like the same reason I gave up and took a visit to Awesome GTI.

Yes, it was that same bit. Looks like a big star shaped bolt head which holds the front suspension in.

I'm amazed that nobody has the proper tools - even at a Skoda dealership!!

Ah well, sounds like a job for "Captain Bodge-it" !!

I was just worried about damaging the thread and being unable to use it or remove it again.......

The star shaped bolt your talking about I removed using mole grips (think thats what you call them) Thats the easy bit. As ScoobyChris has said, removing the damper from the hub is the hardest bit.

It looks just as low as mine now :D

and mine is still on stock suspension

Its the way it rides that counts :D

I gave up trying to get the shock out on it's own and took it out complete with the whole hub and disc assembly! :D Bloody heavy, but much easier. ;)

Just to let you know. They are the TDI springs.

Your all going about it the wrong way!

Its easy to get the damper out

Clamp the spring right up in place with the spring compressors, this shortens the spring. Grab the top plate and pull it down the compress the damper strut. Hey ho there you are the damper is now short enough to lift out of the hub upright.

Also the bottom bolt is a M14 spline bit.

Has anyone got the proper vRS springs yet? I cant help but feel they'd be better again than the TDI springs.
