Supercharged Ariel Atom.

Caterham 7 superlight

Triumph Speed Triple :D

What's the difference in prices between a similar aged Lotus and Vauxhall?

I'd go for whichever got me the better specced car for the money.

Out of that list, I think the VX220 ticks most boxes. Relatively cheap, awesome performance. Have a mate with one tuned to about 280bhp, that thing is FAST!

the vauxhalls allways come in around 1-2k cheaper than the lotus's.

I am just put off by it being a vauxhall

None of them; The Lotus is a trackday special, not even a decent "dirty weekend" car, the V@*xh@11 is, well, a V@*xh@11, and the TVR needs more exercise than a weekend car usually gets if it's to be and stay reliable.

An MX-5 if you can live with the hairdresser comments, or a Nissan Skyline.

I think an Atom is an awesome shout!!

VX220 Turbo is a hoot, who cares about the badge?

What about a Z3M Coupe?

I do like the idea of a MX-5 or Nissan Skyline (this would be my dream car) or how about a Honda S2000?

None of the above.

Cossie powered Westfield for me thanks. :)

Atom or bike engined Lotus 7 replica.

:D:D:D

A vote for the TVR here although I would prefer a Griffith or Chimaera V8. TVR’s aren’t blessed with great reliability in general (the AJP engines are very apt at breaking down) but the great look, amazing straight line performance to say nothing of ‘that sound’ would make it the perfect weekend car. You would probably spend more time fixing a TVR than the others, but it is a genuine headturner and I loved driving them on the odd occasion I was lucky enough to do so (I worked at a Dealers for a time). Proper weekend car in my book, a lot of work, but high rewards too.

I would avoid the 5.0 V8 though as it can be a little bit near to the border line of - time spent fixing 99%, time spent driving 1%

None of the above.

Cossie powered Westfield for me thanks. :)

Now that would be nice :)

I know someone who used one for a 160 mile round trip commute, so again it's down to hairdresser comments, and can you deal with an engine that has no real go below 5_000rpm?

Another vote for Westfield/Caterham.

How about something oddball, Diesel engined Westfield.

Oh i see, weekend car. Would have to be something old skool for me!

Please note that I didn't start this MX5 business but... How about one of the above with a supercharger or turbocharger. Will have more than enough performance for most people but will be reliable and in what is generlaly reknowned to be one of the best handling chassis ever? :D

I've wanted an Elise since they came out!

I fancy a bike powered Lotus inspired kit car though... MK Indy's are reasonably priced... A guy near us has just bought one. Not jealous.

Tiger kit car. :) Can get a reasonable one for £6k. My mate's one has a 2.0 ford engine and about 170bhp. It's a hoot! :D

Out of that list, VX. Out of my list - MX5 or S2000 :D

Oh, and please note - I'll be round to have a go in whatever you decide on  :woot:

The 500 bhp Black car that almost made you mess at the RR day was a Vauxhall ;)

Anyway - Atom. Its the only weekend car :)

I like the S2000 too... I suggested one to a mate who has a fondness for the S2 Elise and is now looking at spending 11K on a Focus ST... and he said he didn't want a girl's car!!

s2000 is the one thats sticking out from the suggestions.

I should have said before..... ive about 15-20k to spend.

The Mk indy kits are intresting me at the moment too. fireblade power!

shifty...... How do you mean nearly made a mess! ;) Lovely car, Its on the list
