Thought id do a little poll for this to see what browsers people are using these days...

Mainly because im curious.. and myself am trying an experiment.. ive been a mozilla/firefox man for several years now.. but ive decided to try IE8b2 as im hearing good things about it!

So what do you use... please also give reasons why :)

Where’s the poll?:(

Where's the poll options Col? :)

IE7 at work, for work stuff, in-house bits etc because it's the group std. Firefox 3 on the side, for all the other stuff :)

Firefox 3 exclusively at home. With IE7 sitting there, plus Chrome and Safari for the hell of it :D

Steve

Avant Browser - sits on IE Shell

Been using it for around 3 yrs - does everything I want and more

Tons and tons of options - very user friendly.

Tried Firefox, Chrome, Mozilla, Opera, bare IE versions, tons of other browsers that use IE as base - nothing comes close :P

FF. I started off using IE, but it had to close so often it was unusable. I've also used Opera, That Apple one (Safari?) and Google Chrome, but FF just feels so intuitive.

Mozilla, because that's what was downloaded onto this PC aswell as my laptop. I did use IE for years but got bored.

****.. i meant to make it a multi-choice :(

Ok.. my choices:

Firefox3:

Have been using it for years, got themes/addons configured just the way i want them... the whole lot is pretty portable by grabbing the profile folders so it stays static when i rebuild machines etc.

IE: 7 only use it because some things dont work right in FF, namely work stuff like Citrix secure gateway, OWA and WMP.

Recently ive installed IE8 beta on my home and work machine.. its crap on my work machine (a64-3200+) but due to the "next gen" framework of multiple processes, it works very well on my quad-core home machine.. at a push id say its actually faster and more responsive than firefox.. and of course things like flash and acrobat dont crash the browser like they have a tendancy to do on FF. :)

Its early to pass judgement on IE8 as im still getting it learnt at my browsing patterns/cahces/sites etc..

Can you import all your bookmarks into IE8 from IE7 Col, or does the update take care of all that?

Interesting; I don't have any problems accessing our Citrix stuff through FF, all works fine. And I actually quite like OWA through it, as you don't get half the eye candy and it loads up quicker! Mind, if I want to do 'proper' Outlook stuff, I'll log in through Citrix anyway.

As for the stability of FF, I don't mind so much as I have Session Manager keeping guard over my tabs. So if it does fall over, no spilt milk ;)

Only issue I wish they'd sort is the memory leaks. Especially as I run it 24/7 at home and it's currently eating 200Mb over 15 tabs with machine having been up just short of 2 days, following Vista's last auto reboot.

If you don't mind, it's the black Berghaus on the back of the door. Sorry, I am bored, all night session in the recording studio ........ nicely made up I am to.

Sorry, back on topic

I use FF3 for the same reasons Col does, but I have to dive back into IE7 from time to time to access the MS Secure site as it does not like Mr Foxy.

I use it on the Macbook as well in preference to safari which I just find clumsy.

Well mate, if you can think of a catchy tune to go with Active Directory Rights Management Services then let's hook up :)

As I am over for 3 months, they have hired a house for me to live in, it's great, fully stocked wine cellar (well .... was anyway) and glass floor panels in the kitchen looking into the cellar.

Crazy Germans :)

Firefox here..... Just seems that little bit faster than IE...... Plus it's one in the eye for Micro$oft. :)

Cheers

Dave.

Sounds nice Tony - can we come visit? ROADTRIP! :D

Firefox, Safari, iCab, because I've tried others and they are pretty much 5h1te - IMHO of course.

Firefox, have been using it for a few years now, every since I heard it mentioned on Radio 2!

On Windeeze I mainly use FF3 but on OSX FF3 just feels a little clumsy so I use Safari for 99% of things.

Opera has been my trusty companion for years now. It's the best browser there is!

I use a mix of IE8b2 and Chrome at work but also have Safari, FF3 and Opera installed if I fancy a change.

It's IE7 (or Safari on the phone) at home cos it just works and I CBA faffing around with **** on our home PC :o

you do realise the statement you've made by spelling Microsoft with a $, don't you...:D

I used Safari for years until I discovered Firefox and never looked back. Safari was too slow and didn't like a lot of websites but Firefox justs eats them all for breakfast :D

What are Chrome and Opera like?
