Octavia 2 headlights!

nvm.

Gonna open a can of worms now ------ I've had the day running lights activated by Skoda (they call it Scandanavian lights), so my side and dipped headlights are on whenever the ignition is on. (Yes I am a previous Volvo driver!) Funny thing is, though, that the low/high beam switch doesn't work on day runners, and neither do the dashboard panel lights. These both only start working when you actually turn the light switch on although the green headlight on warning light is on whenever the ignition is on.

And there hasn't been any increase in fuel consumption since these were activated either!!!!!!!!!

Vol, no sorry, Skoda driver!

How did you get the DLR activated - My steeler said that this was not possible.

Mine came with it activated... had to get him to deactivate it!!!!!!

Hello Jules

Thanks for pix but can you tell me if the main beam height adjustment is by moving the lower white hex nut in or out, or by moving the black hex nut/nolt which bears onto the white hex nut? If I tweak the black nut too many turns [some guys have said up to 4 full turns] will it shatter the white plastic nut?

Overall there are some great threads on this forum [i'm a newbie to this lark and so while I'm blundering my way around, please excuse any etiquette bloopers].

Ta muchly all concerned. :)

I adjusted the White one out IIRC (in goes one way, out goes the other). Do it at night, up against a wall and count the number of turns you make, then you can always go backwards.

Ive not yet got around to adjusting mine - but I should as the main beam is too high. I tend to adjust it whilst driving by using the dashboard electric adjuster as Im frequently carrying heavy kit in the back of my estate. Do as Gaff suggests and get square on to a flat plain wall, blank out all the lights except the one you wish to adjust with cardboard (I use flattened boxes) and then get adjusting.

Had to adjust my full(main) beam as was lighting up the sky from new. Think I adjusted them down by the full limit on the thread (just before they just clik and don't go any further). How they get off the production line like that concerns me

I upset mine when i got it confused presuming they was the same as the mk4 astra's.

But nope, they have to put the dipped beam controls on the inside edges of the lamp hehehe.

So now with Philips Bluevision bulbs i get to light the trees tops up with the full beam, lazyness just stops me from being bothered to adjust them!

Do Skoda actually check these prior to leaving the factory?? With the PDI should it also be checked or do they just do dips.

If Yes to both then there is some seriously uncalibrated equipment knocking around.

just been pointed to this thread by apd (cheers mate) can any one tell me what the settings should be on a xenon car for the FULL BEAM LIGHTS mine seem to be blurred and not the super full beam they once were (till skoda fiddled with them). many thanks!!

When you say "blurred" do you mean badly focussed or just mis-aligned (too high or too low) ? The only way they could get out of focus is if the filament is in the wrong spot (either a faulty globe or the base of the globe not sitting in the mount properly).

If mis-aligned then that is user adjustable on hi-beam only (most people get best results if the highest intensity part of high beam is adjusted to just above the cut-off line of the Xenon lo-beam). Xenons (lo-beam) need to be adjusted using VCDS or the dealer tool.

I adjusted mine from what they were, which was signalling UFO's , all the way down to the stop and they now seem perfect.

alan sounds silly but can you park 6 ft or so from the garage door and get a picture of your full beam pattern against the door? i have notice my pattern changes everytime its been into the garage.

an update the xenons have moved back up again so im wondering if its a faulty memory on the xenons? will have a look in a while at doing the full beam if not i will leave it to the garage tomorrow.

full beam much better, not how it was but better than what it was,. still its at the garage tomorrow ill ask them to sort that out and not touch a single xenon part.
