Allard- Have they gone bust?

Featured Replies

Allards used to be very good for tuning XUDt engines but I'm guessing things went down hill quite quickly of late.

Could someone explain EGR bypass please. Does this do the same as a crankcase breather catch can ?

Similar but different. EGR takes burnt exhaust gases and passes them back into the inlet manifold to be re-burned again. This is not healthy for the engine, but helps keep emissions low. However, the inlet manifold gets gunked up, performance is sapped and it's not nice to think you're engine is re-burning burnt exhaust gases again... EGR bypass means 100% clean air comes in to the engine all the time.

CCV bypass merely stops crankcase gases from going in the same way, although I don't think crankcase gases are as bad as burnt exhaust fumes. Nice to stop either getting in though.

To be honest Stu, when i contacted them to ask where the hell my pipe was, they had no recipt of my order and it looks like the only way they believed me that i ordered one was when i gave them the order number (even at that it took some convincing!!)

I totally agree with what your saying, its out of order what they're doing and i for one will most definately NOT be dealing with them again. Very disappointed to tell the truth.

So whats there new name then... Just so people know not to use them?

The thing with Allards sounds like they've rolled the company over and re-opened under a new name. Leaves a lot of people out of pocket but still allows the company to trade again. Shouldn't be allowed IMHO.

To effin right, OT but I have lost close to £20k in the last 2 years from people doing the same in the IT industry, one cheeky fecker in Manchester phoned me the day after they changed names etc and asked if I would come back and work for them.............

Tell them you want all o/s monies from their previous company before you'd even CONSIDER it! I know I would. I'm not sure if it is legal what they're doing. From my p.o.v as a professional [cough cough nearly there....] accountant, it troubles me! It would be an idea to make the directors of the companies that do this not be allowed to run another company for X years. I guess even that can be circumvented!

...monies...

You watch phonejacker?

Those who do will know what I mean.

Those of you that dont, should.

I would have said, "Monieeeezzz" if I was referring to that! ;)

vrspete. From M5, take left signed Quedgeley, then take first right into housing estate at set of lights. Take right at mini roundabout, then first right, first left and they (were) in the far corner.... I understand they have vacated there now.

I'd be intregued to come up with a design for a new replacement pipe if anyone's interested.

too late for me bud but sounds a good idea! What about replacing the plastic boost hose and replacing the useless 90 degree bend as well with the EGR kit?

Jabba- I'd be interested in a replacement pipe for sure.

How long would it take you to sort one out?

I have one designed and drawn up if you want the eng drawings for it? Sure we could come to an agreement ;)

Would also help us Beeza owners, as Dovit said, the doing a full kit that gets rid of that rubbish 90 degree bend would be helpful :)

I'm sorting out some pipework on tuesday, gets rid of the cr@p metal collars on the bends. On the pipework will be a ridge that will stop "hose slip" when under boost

Will post up my research and new pipe on tesday ;)

Sounds good, pop me a pm or email [email protected] :)

Doubt they cost a lot to make really, just needs the measurements done, all it really is is a couple of inches of billet aluminium pipe with a flange on the end of it.

Been quoted about £35 for the work to be done, thats not too expensive :)

I've spoken with Mike (Director) and we'll be making these very soon. Just got to pop over to the laser cutters...

Will this pipe fit the Octy 2 TDI VRs ?

And Hdi units :) I always had excellent service off them in the past, was a while ago since I last had dealings though. Shame.

I've heard on the grapevine that a european customer who ordered R783 like I did, got some other type of nozzle that is pd130 stock equivalent. It's not good news when you hear this kind of thing about a company you once treated with massive respect! At least I know I have genuine R783.... by going elsewhere for my race nozzles.
