just had this mail from Skoda UK :

Further to my previous e-mails regarding your Skoda Superb vehicle order, I am happy to provide you with an update as agreed.

I have checked your order details on our system and I am happy to confirm that the planned build week for your Superb remains at Week 50, the second week in December.

No further delays have been reported at present and I will continue to provide you with regular updates by e-mail.

If you require any further assistance in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact me.

i asked if they could arrange to fly it over specially so i get it in time for xmas

(i suspect the answer might be "no" !!)

If there is a chance it get's to me before Christmas we'll have a plan ready so you can collect it ASAP. I can get it turned around rather quickly for you.

How about they fly you over to pick it up ?

Well if they do then they'll have to fly me over with you to do the handover...

Otherwise it just isn't fair!

just looking on easyjet and ryanair to find closest airport and wondering how many days it will take me to drive back......;)

I've done Calais to Prague in just under 8 hours before in a Passat. Try and beat that! It's from memory about 650 miles.

The Skoda factory which is in Mladá Boleslav takes about 45 minutes from the centre of Prague, and a little further from the airport.

i think it might get a bit complicated with the legalities -the car will not be registered anywhere and dont think i would get it insured !! and to be honest i am not that desperate to get in my superb !!

Your friendly dealer could sort that out in liason with SUK :)

When I was in the tax free heaven of HM Forces I did several "factory" collections for car's I had ordered, 2 from Volvo, 1 from Mercedes ..... it would be a great way to get acquainted with the car

Getting it registered is pretty tricky when the car isn't in the UK. But in Germany you can register the vehicle on temporary German transport plates then you have to register it in the UK with DVLA as soon as the car comes into UK. Not sure if the Czechs have a similar system.

Dear Santa.

Please deliver JCB's Skoda, minus box of spanners, pre Xmas.

Thank you

:) :)

Oh well it'll be a great day when it arrives for you, btw I was running some figures the other day and the 1.8 isn't a bad choice with diesel being 75p a gallon dearer right now, so it looks like you have a crystal ball at home, cos I think it's gonna widen out to possibly £1.25 a gallon difference before long.

, It really wouldn't surprise me. On the upside, yet another reason to get the tractor chipped, as it improves the fuel economy no end (and would of course have no other beneficial side effect towards acceleration or top speed. no officer, not one bit).

I've also done Prague to Calais in a similar time without really having to rush, It's a great drive.

The nearest airport I think is BRNO which is the cheaper of the two to fly into.

There is one thing I have never understood : what`s the hurry when people want the car to be registered in december ? When it`s registered in december, in a few weeks it`s a year old car in paper. Instead, when you wait ´till january, even if it´s manufactured -08, it`s a brand new car (-09) and when you go to a car dealer in a few years, you have a newer car. It`s as simple as that !!:P

:D It might take a bit longer, whilst running in. or do they reckon 160mph is the right way to run a car in :D

( most of the journey is on the autobahns in Germany )

well - its funny you should metion that as i am thinking the same. the urgency is nothing to do with getting i in december - more just getting it ! after the slight delay and some 8 months choosing the right car we simply want to get on and enjoy it. James thinks that there might not be much difference to trade in value but i think it will "sound" better selling it as an 09 car rather than an 08

...now shall i wait until march so its an 09 plate as well ??

The difference in price really excists later on, whether you believe it or not. It might not be big, but something after all....

Very suspicious, no mention of year:rofl:

My friend has been to Germany to pick up 2 Mercedes now, went with him once, its a good day out and it makes the whole experience a little more special too, a museum tour etc, not sure if Skoda would be quite the same though.
