Featured Replies

Can't believe the 'lets put ourselves down' Renault Ad...things that you said you'd never do,buy a Renault:D Suppose a bit like Skodas turnaround comedy ads with people diving out the car when they knew it was a Skoda:rofl:

Don't know if its tongue in cheek though or serious this one...

Made me think though. There are Renaults I do like and actually craved for once

Alpine 110 was it?

Fuego

5 GT Turbo...any variant.

They really did do some crackers once:thumbup:

Renault Spyder

Edit to add that on a serious note their UK sales are down about 25% this year so maybe they need this sort of sales approach

None

The biggest thing renault need to do, regardless of how good or bad their cars are is to fix their dealers.

They don't bother getting back to you and are rude. Also they apparently have an inability to actually fix problems when they do happen.

The Renault dealer I bought from was actually very good. The car wasn't.

i used to own a 99 T plate laguna 1.6rt sport and to be honest it wasnt a bad car had it three years with no problems, the only thing i didnt like to much was the colour.

Alpine A110 - Sport Spider - New Laguna Coupe

Well coming from what I thought to be french parents, grew up in Citroens I was quite happy to take a R19 smoker as a temp co car... That was untill I'd done a few leciester to wales weekends. On a bit of an examination I noted that the pedal block and steering is not, how shall we sa, aligned. As such you're off set... not the only one to observe this, so gave her back for a rover 620 :) Oh those were the days.

So Renaults I'd like to own in no particular order...and assuming I had a spare bank account to fritter away.

5 GT, shh everyone has to don't they?

Clio v6 mid engine - heck it's a mid engine car for buttons.

Clio Cup for ragging up the go kart track (otherwise known ans the formal gardens)

...

Could not think of any more, so

Renault Dauphine - Modified sadly, but a DTM Engine should help to reduce her 0-60 mph acceleration time as 32 seconds...bear in mind that was roughly when our speed limits came into effect :)

I have owned many Renaults. My experience is engines are reliable, electronics prone to teething issues on new models but apart from that the real problem is the UK dealerships and their ludicrous prices. It is what drove me to Skoda! I use to get my car serviced on Holiday in France, was about 60% cheaper. And there, their mechanics know what they are doing to!

I love the Avantime, it is just a shame that the Matra part of the car let Renault down and became a huge production issue.

What I most like about Renault is the innovation:

Renault 16: the first proper hatchback

Renault 5: The first car with plastic bumpers

Renault Espace: The first modern MPV

Renault Twingo (not sold in UK at the time): The first modern small car

Renault Espace F1, the most ludicrous car ever!

The Renualt 5 Turbo 2

GT Turbo

Clio v6 sport

I actually quite like the Avantime as it's so ridiculously pointless and I like that Blue Metallic so many of them come in.

A friend of mine had a 5 GT Turbo a year or so ago and when he got it I thought it would be fun to try it out. It wasn't fun, it wasn't even fast really and cornering was pretty scary it would understeer quite a bit and then suddenly gain traction and then the turbo would spin up mid-corner and you'd understeer again...

Apart from the Avantime there isn't another Renault I'd actually want to own.

FYI- On the Skoda Superb Dealer Launch day we all went to Millbrook to sample to the new and it's competitors. The Laguna went home on an AA Truck as it broke down on the circuit.

I loved the Megane, bought top of the range model, love at first sight, leather, walk towards it it would open. all the toys a guy could ever want, I felt 10 feet tall, then the fault ,s started to appear ,and love soon tuned to loathing, divorce soon followed, all my dreams shattered . I now have a Fabia 3 no sexy rear but is a strong dependable partner whom my love and respect grow,s more and more each passing day

RenaultSport Clio 197

Fun Fun Fun, would love to drive one again, the thing was on rails.

I bought a Megane back in 2000 (So the older style) and really quite enjoyed it.

It was my first ever brand new car so it was all a little bit exciting.

In the 4 years I kept it I didn't have any major problem with it, it only went back to the dealerships for services etc.

The original Alpine.

Current Laguna GT Coupe.

Avantime - because it was the car they wanted to build, not what anyone actually really wanted. And now, it actually looks like a good 2nd hand motor for some.

But I second the problem about dealers - especially as the local PGC have gone to the wall.

Alpine A110 and A310 (series), and Avantime / Vel Satis. IMO that's cheating a bit though, because those Alpines were Alpines badged as Renaults rather than Renaults tuned by Alpine, like, say, the R8 Alpine was.

Used to work at a Renault stealer, so have driven just about every model from the last 15 - 20 years.

I drive a Skoda vRS.

Nuff said ?????

(Though if I had a gun to my head and HAD to pick I'd take the Trafic van :) )
