few pics of my Felicia Rally car build...

Featured Replies

Thought some of ye might be interested to see these,

Nothing special, just a bog standard Felicia with a cage and seats :o

I had originally bought a Favorit rally car, ex skoda challenge, i had intended to give it a respray and rally it as it was but with a stroke of good timing and good fortune, i picked up a 96 Felicia from a guy on another car site (thanks Dimitri )

Just as well as on closer inspection once the reality set in, the Favorit was beyond hope...

had been rolled, at least once.. :P

had intended to rally felicia as it was, bog standard, but more bad luck as the head gasket was cooked so removed engine and swapped over the Fav one...

Heres hoping theres been some work done to it, cam or something... ha ha

i like :D

nice.

what are the front shocks? customs?

Nice project :)

I would like to see Skoda UK one day bring back the "Shell Skoda Trophy" one make series.

I could imagine the new VW Up! based car might be suitable, think the Fabia is a bit heavy for the small engines in rallying use.

Feck Shell, dont worry, im no hippy, communist, crusty, conspiriciy theorist type....

but Shell are the most Devisive company i know of,

always stirring it with the locals...

i wont spend there, every little helps as the wise man in Tesco once said LOL

'l'll go anywhere else but... and us irish Invented "Boycot", Wiki it ;)

Good idea though... Skoda are throwing shapes again with their new S2000 project, see http://new.skoda-auto.com/com/motorsport/Pages/home.aspx, looks the part!

be nice to see an affordable S1600 for the privateers ;)

Pinksud, afaik, the shocks are Bilstein coilovers which i think were common to the Skoda challenge cars? dont know to be honest, i dont know a lot about the original car

Coming along nicely:)

Nice job, love it

It looks meaningful, nice job :)

Hi wkdrwd,

I have been reading your thread with allot of interest as im building a Felicia for rallying at the moment, - im desperately trying to get hold of a roll cage ( and lots of other bits!!!) - dont suppose you could point me in the right direction?

Cheers

i couldnt, the cage i used was already in the Favorit when i bought it

I seem to remember seeing an ad before that Custom Cages had a 6 point one for 5?0euro...

I might be wrong but they're worth checking out...

Race on Sunday, Drink Till Monday LOL

Skoda had her first competitive outing today...

Mixed feeling, Car ran well all day, took more abuse than it deserved, however, more work still to do...

Shocks (and old tyres didnt help) are too soft, Was still rolling over in the corners

And the car is Very underpowered, a lot more than i thought it would be...

Will have to figure out something there... Doesnt have the power to pull itself out of the corners, though pulled away from Ka and Pug on the straight...

But, for its first day out i was pretty pleased, She's reliable at least

And deserving of a nice new oil change next weekend :)

Well done!

What shocks are on there at the moment out of interest?

Bilstein Coilovers with brand new Tarmac springs, Pics up above somewhere with the old forrestry springs

Are they listed as being specifically for the Felicia?

  • Author

no, they came off a Favorit

This maybe the problem, if you can get some that are designed to deal with the felicias weight distribution you should be able to loose some of that bodyroll and carry more speed into the corners. On exit then the lack of power shouldnt be a problem because you will be more likely to be at a decent point in the power band.

big anti roll bar is the answer :D

big anti roll bar is the answer :D

agreed.

I'll get on it...

Thanks! :)

Was that an all-tarmac event? Those shots look like you're going backwards round Mondello Park,

If so, the "lack of power" and "excess body roll" are no surprise. Just about any road car, and even most 1.3l gravel rally spec cars feel hugely gutless and rolly on a race track (partly because track tar just plain has more grip than road tar does).

yeah, tarmac, Tynagh Kart Track, biggest kart track in Europe.

i expected it to be a wee bit slow, its almost bog standard like...

But was totally outclassed by Ka's, Novas, etc...

My driving aint Top class, but im genuinely blambing the car for this one... Its dead...

getting caught by a Ka is not nice... LOL
