Leaky Rear doors

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Realise this has probably been posted many times before but I have a very misted up windscreen on my 05 VRS, felt the carpets and the back seem slightly damp (not wet) so a couple of questions as I beleive this is a common problem....

1) Does the water go underneath the carpet or down through the top

....in other words if the carpet is only damp on top could it be soaking down below ?

2) Where exactly does the water get in ?

3) Does anyone have an idiots guide as to how you fix it (I beleive you can fix it with silicon sealer ?, there is a thread on here somewhere with a link bit the link is dead.

All help appreciated

Cheers

Hi

Thanks for link above, was planning to do this at the weekend but was looking at pictures and the top one seems a different door panel as it has a speaker on the bottom left...or is it just me ?

Mine has started the dreaded leaking. It is only on the offside rear at present.

As my VRS is still under warranty can anyone tell me what Skoda will replace? It sounds unlikely they will get out the silicon and seal off the ancillary part....

I think you will find that is all they will do (Re-Seal the carriers) Do a search on here, there are many who have had this done under warranty !! & unfortunately they have leaked again later on :(

They should reseal the ancillary carrier - or better still all 4 - using the repair kit for this. If that doesn't work, as in the case of my car where the repair was carried out twice, Skoda UK may authorise the replacement of the offending carrier.

Thanks, I'll have to book it in and see where it leads me.

Do it yourself buddy, I put the following little guide together http://briskoda.net/fabia-i/sealed-my-leaking-doors-today/127648/

at least you know its done properly as many people on here have reported it still leaking after a dealer fix. I addition to my guide Ive since been told the door card should totoally remove at the window with enough upwards force or you could just do what I did.

John:)

had damp rear door panels on my 07 fabiavrs and also on my missus's 55 1.2 fabia sport, both replaced by the main dealer in norwich under warranty, apparently a little czech man, too much staropramen, has fitted the inside seals upside down!

My friend has just told me her Fabia on an 53 plate has the same problem so thanks to all of you as she now knows it's nothing major and can be fixed fairly easily and cheaply
