Bluefin stage 2 remap installed

Featured Replies

Today I installed the CAI and the Bluefin stage 2 software but with the standard exhaust, I'm going to get my exhaust sorted in the next week but couldnt wait :)

The guys at SC have been superb and the map upgrade was free of charge! they were saying they now have stage 1 to 4 maps for the TFSI including maps for engines running the KO4.

The verdict so far? what can I say? its already very noticable over the stage 1 and the power comes in very hard indeed.....its not as smooth as stage 1 but thats not to say i dont like it :)

In this weather (dry but cold) the ESP light just comes on in 2nd and 3rd when giving it full welly which it didnt do before. I did find a try stretch of dual carriage way and turned off ESP, what a blast! It is very aggressive compared to the stage 1 but so far no check engine lights etc

I drove a 100 mile round trip to Alnwick today and on the way there I was booting it....acceleration in 6th from 80 to 1** is incredible

On the way back i took it easy so i could guage the change in MPG with the new map, I managed to get 41.6 mpg average, mostly dual carriage way at 60-70 and then about 3 miles in town.....thats about 4 mpg better than it was as standard.

When I get the exhaust done I will get it on the rollers, the guys at SC say its good for at least 260bhp so we will see

christ that mpg is alright, dont think i have ever got close to that mpg even with cruise control on, shes in for a service on the 7th though, that might increase it a bit. if superchips say it is good for 260bhp, im thinking with just the cat back on mine maybe ill get 250-255, they were spot on with their quoted figures for the stage 1 remap when i RR her last month. did they give you a torque figure

good write up from mkv forum on bluefin stage 2

GTI Bluefin Stage 2 remap

They quote 263 bhp and 364 NM of torque. So far the torque seem to be possibly even a little too much for a FWD car but let me get used to it and see.

Thanks for that post from the GTI forum. When are you going to get your exhaust done mate? got a good price?

Cheers

AMDessex quoted me just over grand which was ok for full system, but i think i might just go fo cat back for the sound and extra pwr for remap, but that gti link from earlier mentioned superchips say you just need the down pipe for the map. so hmmm what to go for???

364Nm, whats that in Ib/ft mines at 249Ib/ft now

My car seems to have gotten more economical over time, originall i was getting 36 mpg when taking it easy and shifting up before 2500 rpm.

Its now done 30K miles and seems to be better than it was. The new map is great as the torque builds up at lower revs and so i can shift up at 2000 rpm and stay off the turbo, hence the 40+ mpg

I want to give it a proper balst tomorrow to check for hesitancy as mentioned in that GTI forum post, I havent noticed anything so far.

Just need to fnid a good deal on an exhaust, there aren't many tuning companies up in the north east :(

yeah 36mpg is what im gtetting on good day. i have the CAI, but not installed it yet, did you do it yourself. that hesitency mentioned in the mkv forum might have already been updated which is handy. are you getting the full system or half, if so which half

I did stage 2 today but didn't feel even minor difference and also Stage 1 felt more agressive. ... My 0-160 times did not change either (15 secs)

Hmmm, that doesnt seem right, i suppose they would say it is down to the exhaust not being in place, but since hoffmeister believes his has much more torque, which to be fair you would notice. get on the phone and thell them, maybe its an error

do u think your DV might have failed maybe, and thats why your not feeling the boost you should, or is no different at all

I found that Stage II REVO wasn't as agressive as Stage I but it does pull harder and for longer.

They told me that the performance figures would not improve unless i make an exhaust upgrade :(

I didn't have enough time to make a full test but maybe the 0-top time has improved who knows :P

maybe, but hoffmeister had differenct experiences. but you both have different air intakes as well. so comparison is slightly awkward. look forward to getting the new exhaust, then get it on the rollers and see...dont forget to get your printout on here as well though

I still think the figures they quote would be optimistic and the torque is still a bit lower than REVO stage I (268 for Bluefin vs at least 285 for REVO)

41.6mpg aint bad the best i can get on a 60-70mph run is around 45-46mpg on my setup so maybe your exhaust will give you a bit more MPG aswell as power:D

As for the 0-top speed timings i can confirm, having tried it on the autobahn, that the time to get there and the top speed itself decreased/increased dramatically on stage II REVO:D so no doubt Bluefin will have a similar effect

over a grand for a full system

i paid around £600 for bluefin to build a turbo back system on the car including sports cat!

??????didnt know bluefin could do that, please explain more, that price has certainly caught my attention

Carl:thumbup:

what do u mean by decreased and increased dramatically. do yo umean it was slower to top speed, but top speed was much improved

no i mean the time it took to get there was decreased (so it was quicker  :P) and the top speed increased (168mph according to satnav vs 153mph when stock)

Edit: i must stress it took a good few miles of clear autobahn to achieve that but it still got to 168mph quicker than it did to 153mph when stock:D:D

168mph, jesus, i got mine upto 159 on sat nav on autobahn but could not get it to flash 160.

have you had the fuel pump uprated or have you not found the need.

mine is a mk1 4x4 but i can't that making much of a difference. contact blueflame to see what they can do as i'm sure they'll have an off the shelf exhaust for yours.

Its a funny one that. i was looking at the various exhaust company sites and an exhaust for a MK1 is about 30% cheaper than for an MK2......all the ebsites I looked at were the same (Miltek, Piper, Jetex)

I looked at the Blueflame site but they dont have the MK2 listed yet, just the MK1.

When I tested the Bluefin stage 2 out there was a difinate difference, car pulls harder and for longer. Only thing i noticed was that it was very hot afterwards and it warmed up very quickly indeed. I have unloaded the map until i get my down pipe (in the post now)

There is a RR day on the 24th in Gateshead with the SEAT Cupra.net guys so I'll get some figures then

Ron

ah i take it you meant blueflame exhaust not bluefin exhaust, that explains alot now

yep.

Extra torque provided by REVO probably helps :P:D
