Fab VRS or Octy RS

Featured Replies

Decisions , decisions , decisions !!!!!!!

Before I got started on this forum , I had decided that it was a Fabia VRS that would suit me best .

After a few days on here though , i feel like i should also go and test an Octy.

Trouble is , i like the idea of 60mpg :happyface

What sort of mpg are the Octavia owners getting please ?

BTW - anyone know of a friendly skoda dealer down Chichester way ? Might try and get a test drive while im on my jols !!!

Hi,

Standard Octy RS - about 36/37

Remapped - about 35

HTH

I get roughly 25-30mpg in the octy vRS and wife get about 30-40mpg from her 1.6 petrol Octy. Although when that car was just bought it was returning similar fuel useage figures as the vRS????

Get the Octavia. It's much better. :D

Get one of each like we did.

I get 30mpg in the Octy vRS. It's really down to how big a car you need, plus how powerful a car you want. The Furby is too small for my needs, otherwise I might have had to give it some serious consideration. The Octy is obviously faster but at the expense of fuel economy.

There are some good deals to be had on the Octy atm ......

Im afraid the bank manager wont let me ( wife ) :thumbdwn:

greg2302 mentioned some good deals on the Octy ATM . Can he please tell me where ?

In my Octy vRS i averaged 27mpg (over about 8000 miles)

In my Fabia vRS I am currently averaging 35mpg (over about 1500 miles)

but this is desceptive as my Fabia will do 50mpg and sometimes more than that on long trips (best yet is 59) where the Octy never got more than 34 over any distance.

If you drive the Fabia like a **** :D it will be cr4p on gas just like an Octy vRS but when you want some economy its very good considering the performance, I have owned both and the Fabia is saving a shed load on fuel but I do a lot of miles per year.

both cars had been to peterborough ;)

You won't get anywhere near 60mpg, even in slow day to day driving. mines averaging about 47mpg over the last 1200 miles, it will get better as i've only done 5500 miles. and i dont drive it particulaly slowly :D

Jonno.

Recent run through Europe...36.5 mpg average.

General running i get 32-33..

On a good run with reasonably restrained driving i can get 420 miles out of a tank.

I drive both the octy and fabia like a **** on the 30 mile round trip to work. I get around 23mpg for the octy and 42mpg for the fabia.

With respect, but I don't see the dilemma - they're both quick Skodas but that's about all they have in common...

Maybe you should make up your mind first about what you want from your car, or get both of them. ;)

I think the OCty vRS is down to about

Insurance costs

for my Octy the insurance was around

on a run down to Chiswick on Tuesday night and speeds ranging from 50 (in the road works) to 90+ i saw a maximum average of 47.8mpg and a constant average of 38mpg thats from my octy vRS with green panel filter and Bailey valve.

On the way back i was in slightly more of a hurry and saw 36-38mpg on the average.

Normal day to day ****ty traffic town driving see's anything from 28-31mpg

Considering i never ever saw anything over 32mpg in the R19 i'm a happy bunny.

I even thought the fuel gauge had broke when the needle hadnt moved from full at 80miles on the trip, theres still half a tank o fuel left in there and i've now covered 280miles or so !!!

It really comes down to what you want / need from the car, for me the Fabia wouldnt offer the interior or boot space i like, ok the performance of the car is good if alittle lesser to the octy but it really comes down to personal preference and only you can deside whats best for you.

Dutch4x4 , it's not a dilemma . its just a very pleasant choice i have to make . All i wanted to do was see what current fab and octy owners had to say about their cars . Someone might make a point that is relevant to me that could help my choice .
