New housing for N95 8gb

Featured Replies

As all six sides have been chewed, I am looking for a replacement housing for my phone. I can't find anything on the Nokia website and I would prefer to buy genuine. Has anyone else had a similar job and had good results from other websites?

I have found this, that looks like everything I need is there. What's this about a special tool for fitting aswell?

Genuine Nokia N95 8GB Black Full Housing Cover - Original Phone Covers Fascia Including Keypads

That would do the job.

I think it is referring to this:

Sony Ericsson T630 Phone Covers Fascia

Its basically a little torx screw driver (needed to get the screws out) and a little wedge thing to prise the cover and things off.

Think thats a decent price too for a genuine replacement.

Yeah you should have no problem Pix. Member a phone is not for life, it's just for Christmas.

As you can see from the photo above, you are not looking at a simple job. It takes a professional about 30 minutes to do it properly which is a long time for a case swap.

Your looking at £44 for someone to do the work for you and BTW, that case set you have linked to will not be new parts (The will be reclaimed from BER units). The parts shown would cost about £32 if sourced from Nokia new so maybe that isn't such a good price after all

30 mins for a pro? it took me less than that to do my original N95 :D

i did have practise though :P

Oh bugger! I thought I'd solved my problem but now I'm a bit scared at attempting it. I did think about RJ's fantastic fail, but he has humungous man hands so I just thought my nimble little fingers would be fine. Now I'm not so sure.

It has to be cheaper than replacing the phone, unless my house insurance will cover it. I'll check it out tomorrow.

This includes a full test sequence and some admin ;)

Also in my experiance, dog chewed phones tend not to last too long anyway due to the liquid damage most of them seem to get.

It wasn't that wet really and it was in bits when I found it scattered on the floor. So I was able to make sure it was all dry before putting it back together. It just makes me want to cry when I look at it.

I guess I will have to at least have a go at replacing it myself. There are almost definetly no shops over here that would be able to do it.

There is one on Newport. Look on the Nokia website. Nearest one after that is Portsmouth

its not that hard honestly if you take your time on a properly prepped and cleaned table an follow a guide :)

There are some guides that I have found on the net, which are sure to help. I think i'll pop into the shop closest to me which is a Vodafone shop first, just to see what they say. Although, on the Nokia website it does state that it's just general retail.

Find a proper repair shop pixi.

Vodafraud will try and stitch you up.

Your PM box is full

PM me if you want some help with this
