Octavia RS on TV program "Car Thieves 2002"

Featured Replies

Tonights program car theives 2002 showed a car chase with a red Octavia RS, the RS got away over fields, but the Police stated it was being driven at silly speeds. I think the spoiler must be a bit damaged, I think I saw it being followed by a White 4X4 but I might have been imagining it

Spotted the RS as well

lol, saw it too... was reading a magazine when I heard the police radio "red skoda octavia"

Love the description - "the high powered skoda"..

I feel sorry for the owner, but it got away, even if he did have to go off-road (should have nicked a 4x4 ;))

So, have "the masses" watching last night got more awareness \ interest in the RS?

I watched it with a feeling of dread...

Not only am I getting one of these thief magnets in the new year but also I knew all the roads the car was being chased down! Yes it was sunny Sheff Vegas, my home town!

She who must be obeyed turned to me and said 'How much did you say the insurance was?' I coughed and changed the subject as insurance is a topic I've so far managed to avoid discussing.

Elegance: Standard alarm.

RS: No alarm.

What's that about? Removed to meet a price point? Should be there as standard.

Sorry I missed the program, sounds scary. I like people to think it's a good car, but not so much as they want to steal it.

But my street is filled with BMWs and Mercs so the thiefs will just pass my Skoda by. Won't they?

(Looks out window). Whew!

:D

Alarms are relatively useless! I think my Fabia has an alarm (I have never heard it and I don't want to!). I once saw a guy who worked at the car parks at the Braehead Shopping Complex in Paisley near Glasgow. He used to know a way to turn off the car alarms by pressing on the bonnet! A far better device to stop people stealing your car would be a disklok or a tracker if it is an RS. If you have a tracker fitted some insurance companies do knock a lot of your premium especially if you live in a high risk area and are young but then sometimes the trackers cost outway's the benifits! At least you'll find your car!

Certainly my list of things to do the car does not include fitting an alarm. They are ignored by anyone who hears one, so why bother?

It just would've been nice to get one with the car. Help with the insurance a little.

A tracker of some description seems a much better option and [u:d0217346e9]is[/u:d0217346e9] on my list of things to add to the car.

Especially if, as seems likely, my new job means I have to live in England .

over on scoobynet there are several posts about this program, this one struck my attention

Maybe those snobs that own Scoobys should suck on these facts before they start to mouth off about Skuds.

Of all the Scooby poseurs that showed up (about 25) only five ran and I kicked more Scooby asses than Scoobys kicked mine. The two Scoobys that beat me were breathed on. One very much so...

Easy tiger!

Myself and Jon (taviaRS) have been on quite a few run outs with the scoobynet crowd, most of them have nothing but compliments about the octy, a lot have used the words "the new impreza" in the terms that it is like the impreza in the early days, when few knew about them, and coming from a brand not known for mainstream performance cars.

They are a good bunch in the main, you will always get those that don't expect the skoda to be quick, but surely half the attraction for us is to surprise people?

The best quote I had was from a UK impreza turbo owner when stopping for fuel after following me - "What the hell is in that skoda? That thing flies!" That was before the car was remapped! :D

Hmmmmm.

Ok then... :?

:( :? :o:):D

Never mind the skoda / scooby times - what about those nutters doing 200+ on bikes

And even more  what about

"C99 Ian Walley Ford Cortina Mk 2 136"

my dad's old Cortina certainly wouldn't do that...... :)

Your dad's cortina didn't have two turbochargers, a supercharger, a 2.9 v6 engine ruunning on alcohol with nitrous.

In short your dads cortina didn't have 720hp... :D

The reason why Otka was running at all is because the 200+mph bike I was supposed to be testing went 'pop' before it got of the driveway...
