Midlands Meeting 25th May Nr NEC

Featured Replies

Cheers, Nick - The only thing that shuts me up for long is a massive sirloin steak lunch (which I plan to indulge in for Sunday lunch.) As for the little jaunt, I think Colin has some ideas (see the map in the top post on this page - I think the Staffordshire area looks good)

PS I want everyone who see's my vehicle to anser my Shakespeare question, "to lower, or not to lower, that is the question!"

That's this dang bbs software thinking I've already read posts which I haven't again  Missed those particular contributions. Thanks for pointing them out Jason.

WARNING!!!!

The nutter and The Black Beast will be attending.

devonutopia, if you want a blast in The Black Beast it'll cost you a large coke with ice. ;)

PS It was you that wanted a go in an RS wasn't it?

Des, can I trade you? I want to see how much better a vRS handles on the road than my shopping trolley? I'll bring some fish for the penguins ....

Not sure about the trade bit but you can have a go if thats any good. :)

That's great - I thought you might like to see the other half struggles by - but if you prefer to pass that's fine too :D

Jason,

RE maps, hacked the URL :D, tis the problem with us techies, leave nothing alone.

Want to try it...find any streepmap map page, look in the url query string:

newmap.srf?x=425000&y=305000&z=6&sv=425000,305000&st=3&ar=N&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf

Everything after the ? is called the query string. Eaxch parameter changes somthing, x and y start points for the map. Z alters the height, or in this case the squares shown. 6 = higher view, 4 = closer thus less squares... AFAIK your not meant to be able to get 6, mainly as it's a BIG space, but looks great on 2148 res for planning.

No not really got any plans for driving to be honest, just if there was any to be done, tis a nice area.

Des, might have to blag a passenger ride form you...ooh let the rumours flow.

Looks to be a good turnout, and I'll pack a sticker just in case ;)

Make sure they are Herrings, I was going to say Pilchards but I can't spell it. :(

Colin

Pack a couple of small stickers for me.

Cheers m8

Pssst - don't tell Jason you've got stickers, he'll get over-excited and probably make a mess on the carpet .... :p

Now that its confirmed as the Sunday (!!) I will definately be attending , as you say will be good to put some names to faces! ... and I hope there will be some 'skud convoy' action to be had!

Erm... just remembered it's by GF's birthday on the 25th! (whoooops!)

Will probably still come along... need to find out if the big sister (JaneC) will come along too...

Excellent stuff funkyjutel!

Hope someone is driving a 4x4 from those attending, as I'm curious as hell if it really is as good as they say :)

Not that I would trade in the vRS... not just yet ;)

Bring your GF along, take her for the drive and a meal but remember a card and a present. We will promise not to sing happy birthday or give her the bumps.

I shall be bringing my wife so she wont be alone.

John

I might? be able to make it.

Where's the meet? What time etc.........

Steve

Can't promise anything, but I would like to come along. I'll see what I can do. Would be good to put faces to names etc

Ahhh go on!

I want to see your induction kit (wink wink) :-)

Perhaps I will then. Put me down as an almost certain then! :p

All I'll have to show is some phillips silvervision indicators and the sub/amp stuff in the boot...

Will have to see if I can get the Eibach's fitted before the meet... ;-)

Think I might have to drag myself up to this now. Interested in looking at your install a bit closer Stimps. Need to redo mine as it takes up too much space! Also thinking bout getting some coilovers now, but can't currently afford them. Have to start doing some serious overtime!

TBH, I had far more grand plans for the boot than I ended up doing! :-)

Originally I was going to 'sink' the various components into the false floor for a more "flush" look. I still have a sheet of MDF left, and *loads* of carpet (hint: Maplin's speaker covering carpet is great and v. cheap!). Was also planning on having some sort of lighting to highlight the components...

Hmmmm... maybe I'll take a day off just to play around with the boot if I can find a day when i can get away (always far too busy here!)...

Time to look at the maplin site again for a few more ideas (plus need a connector or two to really finish it off!)

Stimps - I'll be pleased to see your car when/if its lowered in time. I'm still pondering over these eibach kits. So much so that I've been contacting every company I can think of to see if they stock them, and still msport.co.uk are the cheapest. My dealer has also not got back to me about the warranty issue. That's going to be the "do it now or in one year" decision maker.

PS: I've booked myself in to Chateau Aunty up near Leicester for that weekend. I'm feeling quite a lot of anticipation about the meet now, probably because its the first one I've ever been to..?

:bouncer:

edit: Just gone back over the weekend posts (I don't access net at home very often :( ) The list looks good at the moment, and it seems there could be even more than below!!?

As for the promise of a sticker could make me leave a mess on my upholstery - been there, done that & bought the T-shirt! I have a slightly dodgy white stain on the front passenger seat. From a spilt pint of milk, not THAT!

I might be able to bring the shiney black estate to this meet  . I'm not that far away in Nottingham, just depends if the other half has made any alternative arrangement:rolleyes:

Darren.

Well all,

It seems that we have about 14 people coming at last count now poss including Les Paul (great guitars those!)

Looks like it's gonna be a stonker!!

We may even make the magic 15! Remember if U find any wandering Briskodans with a lost weekend, it's the Malt Shovel for them

See you all soon

Funky J !!:drive1:
