Midlands Meeting 25th May Nr NEC

Featured Replies

No, you dont want to stay at the malt shovel, especially for food. On sunday its a buffet type affair, and we tried it last november and queued for what seemed like 45 mins to get our food which was not of a great standard and quiet expensive. The malt shovel is quiet a small pub with a bigish carpark. An ideal place for meeting and having a coffeee though before setting off, due to its proximity to the main roads around birmingham.

The second pub is about 10mins away and from the outside at least looks much better and has an even larger carpark and access to the A45 is relativley easy for when its home time. It's quiet tricky to find though especially if you have never been before.

Cant wait just over 1 week to go now.

I am also really looking forward to this.

I am trying to arrange to have the Revo free 5 hour test uploaded to the car for the day. Would be good to compare notes if any of the other modded cars will be there.

See You All Next Week !

Graham

Well - I just realised the Malt Shovel is a Toby pub, so I'm not surprised its not a special place to munch. If any local yokels know of any better places, then thats ideal. The 10 minutes away destination sounds pretty good to me. I should think the staff there will be rubbing their hands together when they see all these Skoda's arrive, only to see them all just take off in convoy - :D

Whats the name of this place? I'd like to take a peek on the web if they have a page. :) See everyone there.

Does anyone have the postcode for the Shovel? Just so I can set the laptop on the route rather than printing out multiple shots of Multimap ;)

Q.

Got your sticker yet, Jason? :D

Guys and gals,

we shall be meeting at The Malt Shovel mainly due to location ease but eating at The Bulls Head in Meriden, due to the fact that food at the Malt Shovel as Manny said is poor.

Hope that clears that up. I will be calling the pub today to see if we can book relative numbers.

Out of interest of those of you who are coming, who wants to eat (food is good there by the way) so I can give some approx no's ?

Nope - no sticker yet - I'd prefer to get it at the meet, so we can have a sticking-on ceremony - how sad does that sound? :D

The postcode is CV7 7HL. I found this on some website, and I hope its correct. :)

Edit: Put me down for pub food. I normally get my hungry head about 12/1pm anyway. :D

Thanks devonutopia.

Put me down for food too, as long as it isn't 'haute cuisine' ;)

If you use Mapquest then you can get driving directions from postcode to postcode. And it's pretty good too! ;)

'haute cuisine'

Isn't this food cooked by a tall French Cook ?

:D

Graham

Yes, I will be having food. 1 person

This is what mappoint has to say about the bulls head

Bull's Head

Very wide choice of good value generous home-made food all day in big busy Vintage Inn dating from 15th-century, three log fires, lots of nooks and crannies, good prompt welcoming service, well kept Adnams Broadside and Bass, ancient staircase to restaurant; can get busy evenings, especially weekends

Me and junior would like some food too please

Darren

Mmm. Adnams! - My local pub just down the hill from home does Adnams as their "session" beer - Very nice indeed! If it gets busy we should try to work out exact numbers during next week and try and book it up? Sounds like we may need to book out the entire pub! :D

Two meals please 1 for me and the other for Mrs vRS

John

I will probably be wanting food while there aswell then please. Might as well, seen as everyone else is! Looking forward to seeing a car park full of Skodas! :D

Me me me me!

Funky - I reckon the best way to get food numbers is start a "Eating lunch at a pub on NEC meet" thread - and then everyone can reply. i.e: you put down 1 - funkyjutel.

Then I will copy that and put below 2 - Jason . And then everyone else who wants to eat can copy-paste and stick their names by 3 - 4 - 5, etc. You reckon that would be a good plan? :)

Is her middle initial "R", then? - what a great name!!

Everyone - The Bulls Head tell me it's first come first served. Therefore I suggest as previously mentioned that we meet at 11am at The Malt Shovel, head off to The Bulls Head for about 11.30ish, to guarantee we all get seats.

Doesn't mean we have to eat at 12pm but at least we all get tables. I think it's time for "Briskodaring The Bulls Head" yeh baby!!!!!!!!

Will start new thread entitled those for lunch Jason, as suggested good idea!

Sorry Nick dididn't spot your question the answer is oooh R

it sure is :D

Unfortunately I dont think I will be able to make the meet, as I'm being forced to attend the usual Bank Holiday family meet up on the Sunday.

Only consolation is the RR day on the day before!

Hope I can attend the next one & have fun everyone!

It's a shame you won't be able to make it up on sunday m8. Sounds like it should be a good day. Oh well, I shall be seeing you saturday anyway. We should be having a good day ourselves! :p Just be prepared for the noise mine makes. Will have to bring a camcorder to record the runs! Never heard mine from outside.

:drive1:

Sorry to y'all about the food thread as it sadly bit the dust during the last db crash.

I mentioned somewhere I might popdown to this meet, but the family have planned stuff for the bank holiday weekend, only noticed it was bank holiday coming up today:eek:

Would be great if you guys can take a few photos and post them up on here, I'm famous for taking shed loads at our MSC meets:p

Hope you all have a nice day:cheers:

I will be bringing my tacky camera along (just to make sure I wont appear on photo's myself ;)), so consider it done :D
