Rally GB TV Coverage

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what terestrial TV coverage there is of this years Rally of a Small bit of Wales ;)

Cheers

Steve

I see patchy coverage, probably at ridiculous hours of the night, with a token Live Super Special Stage on sunday afternoon...

The above is based on many years of waiting for decent coverage. I would love to be proven wrong this year :)

ITV? Eurosport?

Agree with monkeyhanger.....

Coverage will only be on Eurosport as Channel 4 did not pick up the tab for this year.

About time they renamed the rally to Rally of South Wales anyway.

It can only be called Rally GB when it revisits Yorkshire, Kielder and Southern Scotland which is when the RAC was at its best.

Ok, just checked the EPG for the weekend.

Eurosport have 30 minute late night (11pm - midnight) Highlights....don't all say wow at the same time

Whilst ITV1 have a highlights show on Saturday afternoon, with a Live SSS on sunday from 2pm IIRC.

That's yer lot.

couple of lads at work are going to watch it this sunday

i would have gone but i'll be laying by a pool in the grounds of the hotel in mallorca by then

"Rally of a Small bit of Wales "

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

that is soooo true

While it's in a "Small bit of Wales" i think it's better to suffer the limited TV coverage.

It's probably safer than playing Dodge the Speed Camera. :)

Ah Killer Kielder when the RAC Rally was for men, and men had names such as Tony Ponds, Roger Clark, Stig Blomqvist, Michelle Mouton, Ari Vatanen, Russell Brookes, Hannu Mikkola and of course Jimmy McRae.

Anyone who wants to spectate on a real rally could do worst than look here:

Its obvious that a lot of us prefer the good old days of rallying to the diluted "show" that is put on now . For the past 3 years , i've been going to the Rally Supercar Day at Castle Combe - fantastic !!!!

It's got the usual evo and Impreza boys , but also loads of 6R4 metros , Ford RS200's , Group B mantas ( remember the Andrews heat for hire livery ? ) , Quattro's etc .

The best thing is , most are actually out on the track givin it some .

I'm sure loads of you have already been and will agree what a good day out it is !! :auto:

www.rally-live.com is a great place to keep up with all the action, up to the minute stage times.

I think 11:30pm all weekend on Eurosport (althought there getting very used to messing with the times lately)

Certainly is - managed to miss this year's but remember the Pikes Peak cars from last year! Oh, and Alistair McCrae knows how to abuse a car ;)

Chris

First time i have missed the RAC (sorry Wales rally GB) in the past 12 years. But the organisers are just taking the P1ss now with ott ticket prices and crap stages with poor views. Probably see more watching the limited coverage on ITV & Eurosport.

Havent bothered going this year, got myself a remap instead :D:D The visit to Jabbasport earlier in the week was much better value for money.

:rally:

I agree - Rally GB? - it's a ridiculous title for a totally watered down event.

When I was involved in rallying, the RAC, as it was then called, was considered to be a really tough event and it was great to be involved in an rally that covered so much of the country. Kielder stages at night - always exciting! :Yikes:

Welsh stages are good, but if a rally is only held in Wales, then surely it is called the Welsh?

John.

15.55 today on ITV1.

Gardemeister is currently running 10th in the Fabia WRC :drive:

Markko is really on the limit in the Focus, I seen 3 clips on Eurosport day 1 coverage where he was at nearly 90 degrees to the road coming up to corners and still managed to pull the front around the bends, that chap has just no fear. If he has an off its going to be a massive one....

Did you see the lumps of tree branches sticking out the front of the car after one of the stages in service

Armin Schwartz did a proper job on his Fabia too :D

Armin Schwartz did a jason job on his Fabia too :D

:rofl::D

:hilarius:

Oooops.... hope ive not spoilt it for anyone who didnt see the saturday coverage

I predict a :finger: from Jason for you..

Hope he wears rubber gloves ;)

Could be a claim to fame....

"the WRC Fabia takes inspiration from my car and driving skills"
