Fabia vRS - an equivalent vehicle from my past.

Featured Replies

I've only recently joined the vRS club after waiting for the second-hand prices to come down to my level.

The vRS puts a real smile on my face every time I drive it. It has even made me set off to work early just for a bit of a drive around.

It suddenly dawned on me that this has happened to me before.....when I had a Yamaha RD350LC.

I have owned bigger, faster and more modern bikes since but none have ever come near to the fun of the RD350LC. Back in the eighties I left clouds of blue smoke....now it's clouds of black diesel smoke.

Anybody else think the vRS is a four wheeled equivalent? Maybe not the fastest, best handling or most exotic but great fun.

:D It was at first but after 14 months of ownership the 'wow factor' of the torque shove and hike in power over my 64bhp previous car has completely worn off and were it not for the insurance increase I would be very tempted indeed by a remap :D

Am i the only one that doesnt love his Fabia?

yes.

Mines been int hte process of being upgraded for the last 6 months, but its due back very soon and i cant help smile at the thought of getting it back.

I've had mine for 32 months, done 50k without altering it one iota.

I love mine as much today as the day I bought it.

In years to come a standard one will be hard to find.

I've had mine a year and a half and is by one of the best cars I have owned, I know when I come to sell in a years time that it will be a difficult car to replace, I'm keen to get a Roomster Scout and hike the power up using my tuning box but it won't be the same car to drive as compared to the Fabia vRS.

Even when the car was standard I loved it the moment I test drove it!

I've had mine for just shy of 6 months - best car i've owned and i've been through a fair few of the VAG stable before this inc a one of a kind Audi Quattro Oettinger, a G40 and MK4 Polo show car a few years ago!

The VRS has almost as much poke as my G40 had - but I miss the noise - has better MPG and 5 drs. Mk4 Polo was too low and Audi only did 16mpg if you were driving it like an old woman!

No mate, I don't really love mine :rotz:

Just bored with it I think - having never owned anything but diesel cars, I am itching more and more to petrol power...

That said, I hate putting fuel in my Fabia now (and I only do c. 7k per year :D ), so I know I wouldn't enjoy filling up more regularly. Oh, and not getting 500+ miles to every tankful:O

Anyone else feel the same?

I am itching to move to petrol power...

Have you considered an MX5?? or maybe an MR2?? :P

[private joke mode] Well, funny you should mention those cracking little Jap motors, Cliff. Yes I HAVE considered them. Have you? :D:rofl::D:rofl: :P [/private joke mode]

Same here Tonto. I really could do with getting rid of it and the works/family hack, as paying 2 lots of insurance, tax, maintainance etc., etc., is ridiculously extravagant. I really only need 1 car to do my work from and take the family out, but every time I think of trading it in, I just can't do it. :rotz:

As discussed on my 'any 17 yr. old vRS drivers' thread', this would make an ideal car for my son in a couple of years time. He really likes it, and as you rightly state, finding a mint one in an unmolested state.... (which is what he'd want)....is going to become increasingly difficult as time moves on.

I bought a new one back in 2004 and then sold it 2 years later. Totally regretted doing that, and 6 months later I had to go out and buy another one as I missed it so much. Crazy but true.

Anyone want to buy mine and promise not to use it for the next 2 years, then sell it back to me for 2 grand less please? Bargain!!

My VRS reminds me of my old Mini, handles fairly well but with a lot more poke

Good MPG good everyday car I think

i've had my vRS about 6 weeks now and its still growing on me, love useable power, love the comfort and interior, mpg, and even the 'skoda jokes' of people who later look like *****:)

But... i cant see me buying another diesel next at the moment, i miss revving the taters of my old civic, even though it wasnt as quick, it was just fun. ive got a few plans for the fab, so maybe il stick with it for a while.

Theres definatley a very discreet something about the furby vRS, i just dont think ive found it all yet:)

My last car was a VX220 when I put the deposit down on the VRS, I though what have I done. But it has really surprised me! Ok nothing is perfect, but Its a great all-rounder. The VX was far from faultless as a daily drive!

The lack of revs is a bit strange, but that is the joy of diesel I suppose. Happy so far!

Yep spot on, mine reminds me of my old Suzuki X7 for exactly the same reasons.

Only it was not yellow!;)

Compaired to my old corsa B, its amazing, a few niggly rattles and things but its a great daily drive.

Ive had mine for two years now, was standard for a year, then in this last year it has had a dump valve (slagging welcome, lol) oil cooler tank, chipped to around 180 brake, and rs4 alloys. Not that i needed to do all that, just love tinkering.

As a few have mentioned, i miss revving the tits off a petrol, and miss having a big bore exhaust for sound, but to get somthing petrol with the same fun / power factor of the fabia, i would need to save up alot more money.

Same here, ive had some pretty nice cars but the Fabia is by far the best all rounder ive ever owned. Now its remapped its the same preformance as my SEAT and MINI and not far behind the RX8 yet half the running costs! The only thing i miss is my Ibizas brakes, altho i was in the Audi dealer earlier and tempted by the new TT:thumbup:
