Lots of interest in standard VRS

Featured Replies

Last week I sold my bog standard Fabia VRS 05 plate with 48k miles after four years of happy motoring and I must say I was taken by surprise with the interest in the car from punters from all over the country, but the first thing most of them asked was did it have any modifications as they didn't want one with any mods infact three people said they had been looking for a good VRS for months which I found very strange.... So when it comes the time to sell on your VRS I'd advise putting it back to standard and it'll sell much quicker...

I'll miss that little car its been one of the best motors I've ever had it brought a smile to my face every time I gave it a bit of right foot and felt that torque, I hung on waiting for Skoda to bring out a replacement but I needed a change so it had to go, at the end of the week I'am picking up a new Scirocco GT 2.0L TDI its got a lot to live up to has the VW so I'll see how it goes.

So all the best to everyone I've enjoyed looking in on this Forum and very much enjoyed my Skoda Fabia VRS...

A lot of ex-Skoda owners are still on here

What's more diversity of opinion is always a good thing + I expect a lot of envious peeps will want your 'impressions' of your new motor (jammy g*t :D).

Mine is an entirely standard '05 plate vRS with 34k on it.... had it for 2 years and not thinking of selling it yet.... your experience with selling yours is encouraging for any future sale I may consider....

Thanks,

Rob

No need for quote.

btw.... enjoy the scirocco.... lovely looking car and top gear magazine rated it with the 20 litre diesel engine too :)

The Rocco is an awesome motor. We've a 2litre TFSI as good as the Cayman, allbeit not as fast!

Cracking motors for the money - thats what im trying to say!

Big thumbs up from me matey, wise purchase!

I agree completely with changing the car back to unmodified. I have been looking for a VRS for two months and finally found an unmolested car last week that i brought.

Lots of peoples opinion right or wrong of a modified car is that its been thrashed etc.

True, but often I think it's the other way round - certainly on this forum (myself included) tend to look after their motors - if you're clever and choose wisely you can save a lot of money buying an already modified vRS.

Good luck with the new Scirocco, I think it looks the nuts in that lime green colour

I have had interest in mine from friends and I don't want to sell!Certainly prices seem to be staying firm though I agree people I know want original spec cars (must be quite rare). I don't know if this is from concern for reliability or whether people want the boggo engine to do their own thing with.I'm happy with my car as is but glad I made a wise move buying it.

Skoda and other VW enthusiasts won't mind as much buying modded cars as long as they can verify the servicing and mods were done by competent VW specialist like Jabba & Awesome as they will be familiar with the tuning scene. The average Joe Public who don't use forums like ours will only buy non modded Vrs's because of poorly modded examples you can see on he roads tarted up with with big noisy exhausts, chrome spinning hubcaps and the like and driven by loud mouthed chavs.

It's not difficult to see why many people are put off modded cars.

Good choice on car, poor choice on engine!

I actually prefer the way diesels deliver their thrust. I honestly can't see me wanting to go back to the gutless feel of a moderately powerful petrol car after the waves of torque from a modern turbo-diesel.

Excellent choice; the Scirocco is superb

Its a shame Skoda didn't bring out a new diesel VRS I'd have bought one without question but it looks like it'll be another year away at least I'll bet they have lost a lot of repeat customers because of this, one other interesting fact about the VRS's is the residual value mine was almost exactly four years old when I sold it and I got back 50% of the original cost which is outstanding for any car from any manufacturer let alone a so called cheaper brand like Skoda, brilliant stuff…

I'am really looking forward to picking the Scirocco up its been on order for three months I saw it at the dealers at the beginning of the week and it looked stunning (its black by the way) the one thing I wasn't sure about though was the CR TDI engine I had read they don't have the 1.9 PD instant grunt at low rev's but after a test drive of one its more than quick enough and so bloody smooth and quiet its unreal, If anyone would like to see it I'll post a few pictures once I get my hands on it...:)

hmmm....maybe i should sell my standard vrs, have been thinking about a change

Give me a PM with some details :D.

On-Topic. There are still many members on here that don't have a Skoda. That would also happen to include myself.

I'm intrested in your new car anyway - Could you come back and do a review for us?

Many thanks,

Rob

Jesus Rob you're desperate to get back in to a Skoda aren't you ;)

I picked up the Scirocco today here's a quick run down...:D

It looks amazing I didn't realize how low it is, the driving position is spot on I'am glad I ordered leather the seats are some of the best I've sat in. There is nothing wrong with the CR TDI it has plenty of torque in all the right places and so quiet. The handling is a revelation after the VRS and its got very strong brakes. Its got a touch screen stereo which is so simple to use and looks the dogs bol**cks it shows the back of the car as a graphic when reversing displaying the parking sensor distance.

All I can say is WOW...I can't stop looking at it...

I'll post a few pics later.

i've seen a couple of scirocco's(1 black and 1 white)the black looks brilliant, must admit if i was going to change cars the scirocco would be my choice.

enjoy!!

That's very nice indeed, but there seems to be a huge gap front and rear on the suspension. Is it supposed to look jacked up like that or is it just the camera angle?

That looks superb! Top colour choice.

I think its just been added to the shortlist for my next car. :D

Love the look of that! I have noticed however they do seem to ride a bit too high for my liking, maybe VW took the idea from the Fabia vRS haha. A nice set of Eibach springs would be the easiest way to sort that out though, thats if they make any yet?
