Just takes a bit of a wiggle, or take the 10mm bolt out.

The photos by Chavyboy and Ross look like completely different strut braces to me! The colour is different and the end which attaches to the top of the strut is different. Why is this, or have I missed something here?

Different Cameras, Different Angles.

Different Strokes....

Mine is a genuine Seat Sport one if that is any help. Looks like Ross's is as I notice the logo on the top of the brace says Seat sport.

Mine is also the genuine SEAT Sport item (made by Momo), I think as Josh quite rightly says its the angle.

Be good to see if I am doing it right. Also how do you get rid of the old socks smell from the air-con' date=' I know it is bacteria that needs killing off, when I took it to Skoda a few months back they flushed it out with disinfectant but how do I do it ? Any pics ?

Thanks Ivan[/quote']

That stuff is meant to work a treat. Not verified this myself though so buy at your own risk.

That's an Air Conditioning Cleaner, just how can this fix dogmauls Strut Brace dilemma?

Read my post, including the quote, which came from the first page of this thread.

"Also how do you get rid of the old socks smell from the air-con"

Should be pretty obvious now i guess :P

nope still not fixed just getting used to it rattling now :) will have a look this weekend

Good man! Your outcome will determine whether I buy one of these. :)

I'm really puzzled why these braces fit some vehicles, but not others.

Personally I think it is a 1 off as lots of people have had these fitted and only Dogmaul that I know of has had issues with it.

i just think its because its me watch it i will fit the cupra air intake and that wont fit either lol

PMSL yep that's the way it goes :)

Im Jinxed I Tell You Jinxed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can pop down in November and do some hands on engine/car faith healing ;)

Just thought i post, I've been having the same problems as Dogmaul. Not had the bother to fix it. Mine's a Sept 53 car as well. The airbox is 2cms into and underneath the bar. So if u pull the airbox out you can just get it to lean against the bar and leave it there after a few runs in the car it will go back down and underneath of the bar by itself. Ivan and Ross has loads of clearance.

Its rattling at biting point and thats about it, ive been using cardboard box card between the box and bar to soften the rattling. Thats how tight it is you can put a card and it stays there. Its been there for months and travelled 1000s of miles and the card has not budged.

But yeah the strut has definetely strengthen the front and has minimised the understeering of the car.

I will try and move the airbox. See what progress there is with the rubbing of the box and bar.

Watch this space.

Cool mikey, I did also suggest mike wrap the part of the strut brace in pipe lagging and them put some leccy tape round it to try and stop the banging and yes there is a massive difference in turning into a corner, the front is alot more planted.

I just woke this ancient thread up!

Now I have my vRS, and wanting to fit a SEAT upper strut brace, I just wonder what the result was before I part with my hard earnt cash. Did you boys manage to eventually resolve that tight fit/rubbing/knocking issue?

nah you just get on with it lol it doesnt happen as much now for me

Yeah, NIKE (just do it)

A bit of foam can resolve the issue - the shaking airbox rubbed on my brace for a little while but since putting some foam in, a gap has developed between the airbox and it, so not sure I need any foam there any more now.

The benefit of a strut brace is worth it though, especially for only

ooh forgot to mention during my service the guys at garage kindly put some foam between strut and air box. Just because i asked the guy see if they could do anything to adjust or prevent it. As you guessed they couldnt do it as its an upgrade but they did just shove some foam and presto no more banging works better than my cardboard wrap actually lol

sorry for the late question .

Can i use the original screws or do i have to order new ones.

THX Fabiano

Original ones. :) Go straight through the holes on the strut brace. :)
