If you want a big car then the Superb is the one, the Seat looks very nice, but I believe and I hope I'm wrong it's just a rebadged A4, which is no bad thing, but it will be a medium car.

I`ve heard about Superb II, but not Superb 11...... :D

Seat Exeo is a 90% Audi A4 with the Seat badge. If you want, you can compare it with Octavia because Superb is from another category

I quite like the Seat Exeo but as has been said it's a rebadged Audi A4 on a fairly old A4 platform, if you have the Superb as an option then I would go for that in terms of value for money and size..........

I have been looking at the Exao and love the looks. However I was massivly disappointed when I got in and moved the drivers seat to my position and got comfy.....the rear legroom was awful! It has the same problem as my current Toledo; loads of room in the front and boot but no rear legroom :(

The A4 is a compact executive class.

The Octavia is in the medium family class.

They are not comparable on so many levels.

Exactly, the Octavia still offers more room inside, and is a larger car altogether, if it's just you + one other to transport around the Seat is an option, if you want to run as a family operator you need the Superb, the balance is the Superb will win in every department bar the looks department, the Exeo imo is a lot more handsome, but the Superb can handle anything you throw at is, the real comparison chart is Superb vs 5 Series, and then the difference is £25k, looks and handling, should you opt for the Superb get it in a dark shade, it suits the car better, personal recommendation is Black,Met Red,Met Blue or the Brown, all with light interiors, hth.

However, the B8 A4 is now almost the same size as the A6. Making it comparable for size to the Superb. But we digress. The Exeo looks so much better than the mk2 superb. If it was me I'd go with a tried and tested platform from a manufactor which is very much in Audi's pocket.

But then I'm biased.

(IMHO the only good looking car skoda have made to date is the Mk1 vRS Octy Combi)

isnt the superb 2 on a similar platform to the exeo ?

bear in mind the exeo is on the same platform as the OLD A4 not the current one. In fact the interior is nicked from the Audi A4 cabriolet (not that thats a problem as i have an A4 cab and the interior is a very nice and snazzy place to be !)

rear leg room in the A4 is tight and thus will be in the Exeo. The new A4 might have similar external dimensions to teh old A6 but the leg room is not a patch on the A6 (I had 2 A6's)

I would give the Exeo a serious look myself if I was buying a car now (ironically depending on how my rejection goes with the superb I might be in a position of looking agian soon !!). I woudl be concerned about the ride though - i suspect the Seat will be tuned to be sporty (ie hard) and might not suit buyers, like me, who prefer a more comfort ride. Looks like good value though and will save you lot of pennies compared to the Audi A4. A superb does give you much more for your money but I think the new octavia is nice - the seats and interior are much more like the superb now and the boot is HUUUUUGE . Rear leg room is good and pricing is keen.

Superb 2 , otherwise you may as well buy an 04 A4 .

Exeo is manufactured from the parts bin of Audi

It resemble some of the exterior structure of the 2005 - A4 while maintaining the interior of the 01- 04 A4.

I havn't looked into what chassis platform it is on, but i'm sure someone can say.

The superb, while it is a big car and may look a little boaty, will in the end IMOP make you the happiest.

What ever your choice,

Best of luck

And thats a bad thing ? All VAG cars are build from the VAG parts bin. Bit shorted sited opinion really ?

The B7 Cab interior is used which is NOT the same as the B6 A4. It may look similar(ish) but believe me the tweeks made to the B7 platform make it a LOT nicer

The B5, B6 and B7 A4 runs it's own unique platform right up to the B8 version (where the B8 shares the new modular Audi platform that the A5, Q5 and (new A6 when refreshed))

The Supurb is a very stretched Mk5 Golf platform of passat ilk. So thats what from 04 on ?

Someone has read one too many Brochures

I grabbed a 5min look @ the exeo brochure when i was getting bushings for a lad, so my opinions are based on that !! :o oooppps !!! :P

Not really, I have an interest in Audi and their history. I've owned a version of every (a4 sized) Audi from an 80 up to the B7 A4s (and driven B8s on many an occation).

what do you think of the B8 and the silly pedal positions. I couldnt drive a manual B8 - woudl have to be the multitronic as clutch is a nightmare !

Don't find them much of an issue to be honest. I've never like'd audi's multispastic gearboxes though so stick to manuals.

Come December I've worked out I could rudely afford a B8 S4 Avant on personal lease. And my god is it oh so tempting.

crikey - how could you live with that suspension and tyres on the S4 on a daily basis on UK roads. the s-line is bad enough but the S4 is silly !!

lots of people have commented on the pedal positions - very offset to the right and the your left foot catches the footrest when you change gear unless you twist to an unatural position ! my chiropracter would be having kittens - taken me a year to get my back sorted so dont what to make it worse again !!

must admit the tip is better than the multi but can only get it in very high spec A4.

I found the S4's suspension is actually a little softer than the s-line, weird. I must have bent feet as I have no problem with the clutch pedal.

I always thought you walked funny :P:D

I think I could put up with the harsh ride to have the S4 get up and go :)

dont speak german. translation anyone ?

I am in the same boat but I will either go for

1) Facelift Leon FR 170bhp with DSG - just because I love my current one so much

2) Facelift Octavia VRS 170bhp with DSG

Quick update, i managed to drive the EXEO on Sat,it was a 2.0 TDI sport, very nice and much more refined than my current LEON. It also felt better than an AUDI A4 i drove recently (mates car- 2.0 TDI sport). I have yet to drive a Superb although hope to do so in next few days and will post my thoughts then.

dont speak german. translation anyone ?

I'll recap the video, although my German is far from perfect... :rotz:

Seat Exeo (4th)

- overpriced (compared to the Superb)

- interior is very cramped (esp. in the back and trunk)

- solid build quality

Audi A4 (3rd)

- most dynamic ride, best handling, most fun to drive

- solid build quality

- way overpriced, high maintenance costs

- interior equally cramped

VW Passat (2nd)

- most comfort

- very spacious interior

- motor performs best

- a bit pricey (no longer a real "volkswagen" (peoples car))

Skoda Superb (1st)

- extremely spacious interior ("S-class level")

- very comfortable (the Passat leads by a tiny bit)

- most value for money

- the real "volkswagen"

The presentor is surprised - and I quote - that "VW lets Skoda build such great cars"... ;)
