On the subject of the journey to Anglesey' date=' I plan to be arriving there at around 4pm so I'll be hitting the M56 around 2pm.ish or a little bit earlier. If anyone fancies going down in convoy we could meet somewhere around Manchester Airport.[/quote'] If you have the time, which you do really I think ;).

I can stongly recommend you peel off the A55 at St Asaph and take to the mountain approach down the A525 to Denbigh, then the A543 to the A5. From there follow the A5 to Capel Curig. At this point you could follow the A5 to Hollyhead passing the hotel, however I'd personally go left to the A4086 (Llanberis) . Fro mthere pick up the well signed road to Bangor (B4547) onto the A4087 and then back to normal route finding as if on the A55.

I suggest this to anyone coming from the North that has time to spare ( would make a 1hr30 min journey from M56/M6 point about 2-3hrs depending on traffic, the upper is f your scared to overtake. Of course there is no point doing this at night unless you want to drive. The views and roads are lovely and makes a fantastic approach IMHO ;) You get to see everything from 18th century engineering to scenes from Bond films to the highest mountain peak in Wales and then the indusrty that keeps your head wet when you sleep; that of the slate industry. Before approaching Telfords wonderfull Menai Bridge!

Was planning on taking the scenic route. Route sounds nice. ;)

It will be dark quite early tho .... what time were you planning to be in this area, Col?

Night is better for driving though ;)

Well Ive got me blanket, hot chocolate in a flask, yellow warning jacket, warning triangle, jack, tow rope and details of my breakdown company. Im all set and raring to go..Hey this is the situation everyday when I take my 68 combi octavia the 1 mile to work everyday..

Looking forward to seein you all on Sunday with your cars that have a heater thats more powerful than my engine output altogether.

If I set out from Worcester about 4am I should get there in plenty of time.If you are lucky enough to pass me on the sunday, look out for a driver in a green van with feverish steering wheel action as the steering box is well accuarate..Not..

Take care Jay Ivey..

Just spoke to the nice lady at the Victoria (just to make sure mrsdsemuk has a bed for Saturday night, far too cold to let her sleep in the car ;) ) and we are sorted  Althought it could be a long slow climb to the second attic room following an extended pitstop at the bar :o

Been watching the weather forecast for Sunday and it is improving all the time :)

See you all Saturday for dinner (I told the lady we will be eating too) and / or Sunday.

Pete? Does the table for 25 include little moi? :D

If not, I'll have to scav some fries off you all there. :D

Damn, this Canada speak is getting to me... note "fries" not "chips"

Forks have been known to stick in hands before now :D

But seriously you are welcome to nick a chip.

(so long as it's not one of mine)

Looking forward to see you all Sunday Morning.

I am driving up tomorrow morning (Friday) with the wife and staying with relatives a few miles the track for a long weekend. Weather is looking good for Sunday. Hoping my clutch will last the day on the track. It's now slipping frequently low down in the revs so may have to switch back to stock mode which will be a shame. 23k miles in a remapped Furby VRS in case you were wandering.

Sounds like quite a lively saturday night ahead for the crowd staying at the hotel!
