Fecking thieving scumbag's broken into my pride and joy

Featured Replies

Got called into work this morning, left car securely locked.

Came out 3 hours later and some fecking toerag had smashed the driver's door window.

Couldn't open the door so must have climbed in. Footprint on the seat, glass absolutely everywhere.

Took a Sony P200 camera and my daughter's ipod Nano which she got for Christmas, along with a couple of charging leads which were in the centre console (which were the only items which could be seen). Rifled through the glove compartment, but there was nothing of any value in there.

Thankfully no attempt made to remove the stereo.

Police were very good, and arranged for SOCO to come out, and it was hopefully caught on CCTV, though I've yet to see the quality to if the bar steward is identifiable.

Luckily no other damage appears to have been done, apart from a couple of very minor marks to the door trim/handle where the glass has come in.

At the end of the day it's repairable, but I'm still fecking angry about it.

Fecking hell mate, you've had a bad run this last week or so haven't you? :(

Is it a work's car park? Hopefully the CCTV is relatively good. Barstewards.

Daughter is - first her bike, now this.

I'm hopefully going in tomorrow to have a look at the footage to see if it's any good.

Will still try to make it tomorrow night if I can. Could do with cheering up a bit.

Sorry to hear your motor was broken into....

Repairable, yes.... but bl**dy annoying too..

I would be well angry if it happened to me..

Hope you get it sorted soon...

Hope you catch the thieving little toe rags!

Yes make it if you can mate, there's usually a bit of banter even if it's just between me and Tisha arguing about the point of performance modifications

thats bad mate , its the cleaning up and faffing about as well , daughter must be gutted .

tell her there are decent people in the world as well tho.

I'm sorry but you shouldn't leave anything of value in sight.

I had my car smashed into for the headunit - It's a shame really as they stood no chance in getting it out.

I'm sorry to hear about this and hope you get it fixed soon.

Doesn't really matter that much if you leave stuff in sight, and anyway, WHY SHOULD YOU HAVE TO HIDE YOUR OWN STUFF? This country sucks... I'm sorry. Speaking from a law and order point of view, I know how difficult it is to bring these little scumbags to justice, which is why I often tell people, (off the record of course) that self administered, punitive justice is often the best measure.

Gutted for you mate - same as I was when some scumbag put a 14" scratch down the back dor of my car whilst we were on holiday in France last summer - if I'd caught them, I'd have made sure they resisted arrest whilst awaiting the local gendarmes ;-)

Really sorry to hear this mate, hope they catch the scumbags!

Cheers - I hope Lincoln's got it's own version of DI Johnnycatbiscuit who can catch the fecker.

Problem is when/if they do he won't have enough money to pay compensation.

Car insurance has £100 excess, and £100 limit on personal belongings and clothing, so no joy there.

Looks like being another one of things to put down to experience.

Might be time to get the pushbike out again to cut down the risk (to the car at least)

If I had the option to bike to work I would, unfortunately work is anywhere between 30 and 250 miles away so I compromised and bought a motorbike! Definitely leave the car at home if you can.

I learned my policing skills from watching Gene Hunt - wish I'd been around in the 80s... (I obviously was, but I mean I wish I was where I am now in my career in the 80's...)

Don't forget to ask about "conditional cautions" if they do catch the scumbags!

:rotz: Barstewards! Hope things start looking up for you:)

Main problem with this is if you do, they'll call the police and unfortunately the police will take action against normal law obiding citizens, but just give silly things like cautions to the chav scum who do this stuff time after time.

too true, but if you were to catch them, then you'd be entitled to use :rolleyes:reasonable force:rolleyes: to detain them until the police arrived...

Is "accidental" smashing of the head onto the concrete permitted? :D

:rofl::lol::rofl:

if you had to rugby tackle them as they were running away...

Ok then it's my word against his, I'm sure he'd deny the theft/attempted theft

Fecking hell!!! seems to be a bit of a wave!!!

Was speaking to a kid who comes to our youth group as his mum dropped him off in a new Insignia.

They got burgled, found the keys and tok the car.......

My mate had his nearside mirror kicked off in Oldham, later that day he was driving down to Cornwall, managed to get hold of a rental car.

And was chatting to another girl in Oldham, they had 3 cars taken off their driveway, metal rod through the letterbox, got the keys and away they went.

@Thebrymar - I had the window smashed on my Astra nothing to nick but the mess left by the glass was a bitch to clean up plus I missed a picnic which really didn't help my mood!!

Also when my Dad had a transit van someone smashed the window prob to nick the cheap radio cassette which wasnt taken but again the glass clean up grrrr.

Why can't these kind of people be "eliminated" like wasps?

Have to say since this happened that the standard vRS seats are a pain - I could be pulling shards of glass out of my butt for months !!!

Damn, sorry to hear that you had window smashed and stuff nicked, be careful with that glass it gets everywhere. Could you claim a valet for it on the insurance if youve got to claim anyway?

Had my works escort rear window put through and all their power tools nicked (that taught them to fix the boot roller cover) I was finding glass bits for months after.

An earlier post put that their stereo is hard to remove. I was always told to leave your stereo loose, better to have a nice hole to put a replacement stereo in, than have a damaged stereo, mangled dash, broken buttons etc as they try to jimmy it out. They are not gentle when they try to take these things unfortunately. I suppose it would depend on the value of your stereo (as long as they didnt damage it trying of course)

I'm sorry but you shouldn't leave anything of value in sight.

I find it quite interesting to compare where I live & somewhere else I visit often.

Here... we lock everything, we hide everything, we worry a lot (& with good reason).

There... I walk down city centre streets & see laptops, phones, cameras left in cars.

I've not checked, but I'd guess that most of the cars aren't locked either.

I recently watched a woman cycle up to a shop, pick some money out of her purse,

put the purse back in her handbag, in the open front basket of her unlocked bike, with her other shopping, leave the whole lot outside whilst she went to do some more shopping.

A few minutes later her mobile started ringing in the basket.

I wondered about how reckless this person seemed to be, until a moment later, yes, you've guessed it someone else did exactly the same.

I take it thats not in this country then?...and sorry to hear about your car The Brymar..

Sorry to read about this, and yes, reasonable force used to detain the culprits can include kneeling on their head HARD, until the cops arrive  Chop their hands off I say, and their nuts so they cannot produce more scum.
