Weather forecast doesn't look that promising :thumbdwn:

Depends on your perspective - less wear on tyres is one bonus, as is less grip! Although changing the tyres at the end of the day in a torrential downpour won't be too fun!

I'm hoping for a moist track so that my tyres don't disappear as I'll be running relatively new (<200 mile) T1Rs on the front :D

Ordered two more T1R tyres.

Dont look so bad now BBC Weather | Chippenham Chippenham is nearest to Hullavington.

We all seem to have Toyo T1 R's. Should have ordered a van full.

It said it was going to rain on my last day there even at 8am the same day, so don't take the weather forecast seriously :D

nah, i'll be running hankooks on the front and kumho's on the rear :D

If it is dry I expect I'll run with hankooks that are on the legal limit on the back and my kumho ku31 ecstas on the front, and then at the end of the day will put the new t1rs on the front and leave the kumhos on the back for the rest of their working life.

If it's wet I'll run with 4 decent treaded tyres.. thankfully both T1R and Kumho KU31 Ecsta tyres do fantastically well in wet weather braking tests so my braking distances shouldn't be TOO badly effected even if it is wet :D

Look a pretty picture of Hullavington Airfield. Google Maps

Oh dear it didn't work! Takes you to the Google Map homepage.

And a nice home made track map! Lol...

Very good!

Thats what I tried to do!

So it's only 8 corners then. I think I can Remember them OK.

What's the catering department like Ed and what can you buy there?

  • Author

Yep a bit different to castle combe where I found it impossible to remember any of the corners in 6 or 7 laps that I had... this track's quite good for finding the limit of your car as you have so much time to push harder gradually :).

Looks like we're not going to make the 10 though as the event is listed as "Full" on the web site!

And I remember the 'catering equipment' as being a fairly basic burger van (we took our own sandwiches), but there is a fuel station (Murco) less than 2 miles from the track that sells all sorts of sandwiches and chocolates if you needed to buy something (or fuel actually)...

Here is what I understand to be the final list, as I understand that the event is now full. I will confirm with Natasha today but on all of the sites that resell for Motorsport Events the event is no longer available to new people!

== Booked and paid ==

1. yegnold + his brother- 1 car, 1 drivers, 1 passenger (Fabia vrs) - BOOKED & PAID

2. Craig (yegnold's mate) + SWMBO - 1 car, 1 driver, 1 passenger (BMW 328i) - BOOKED & PAID

3. PastyBoy + SWMBO - 1 car, 2 drivers (Fabia vrs) - BOOKED & PAID

4. Johnny5ive - 1 car, 1 driver (Fettled Fabia vrs) - BOOKED & PAID

5. Soot1e- 1 car, 1 driver (Fabia vrs) - BOOKED & PAID

6. Devonutopia - 1 car, 1 driver (Fabia "TDI") - BOOKED & PAID

7. Leeboy + SWMBO - 1 car, 2 drivers? (Octy vRS mkI) - BOOKED & PAID

8. leesman (Octavia vRS?) - 1 car, 1 driver? - BOOKED & PAID

So we have 5 Fabias, 2 Octavias, 1 BMW E36 328i - total of 8 cars booked in... and.. this WILL BE FUN. :D

how full is full?

Was the previous event you did with them full and you still got loads of track time or are we going to have to battle for laps this time around?

Also i'm guessing any recording equipment has to be fixed and not hand held?

I better make sure that transit is available to house all the packed lunches ;)

Full is 30 cars, I think - but am not sure. 15 cars on track at any one time. I don't think there will be any problems getting enough track time, but it won't be a "you can stay out all day" day like mine was :D.

Recording equipment must be fixed a point in the car. You must wear long sleeves and full length trousers...

well poor show  they really should just hand us the keys to the airfield and tell us to get on with it

If we could get enough Briskoda members I am certain we could arrange a slightly more expensive but 100% Briskoda members day Cliff. We'll see how this goes and plan a long term one if I feel enough people are up for it...

30 managed 10 minutes at Combe but a whole day might prove a struggle seeing how difficult it was to get 12 together for Friday!

Really looking forward to this now  Really hoping that my work let me have something suitable to play support vehicle though would make things a whole lot easier and secure! Although what are the chances of all of us being out on track at the same time meaing nobody is watching our sizable pile of tools/spares/food

You already said you have a support vehicle so it had better be there, or else!

Or else you say!

Else me sarnies will get wet or nobbled.

After 7 days off thought about wet or dry tyres i've decided the four I have on the VRS are adequate for both scenarios. If it's wet The well treaded ones at the back will go on the front and the worn ones will go on the back, if it be dry the vice versa, sorted.

I have no idea what I'm doing about tyres yet, and will decide on the morning, but I do know i've already removed all of my center caps and wheel nut covers so that they don't or can't get lost... :D

Good idea Ed! My idea of weight saving is to remove the rear headrestraints, boot liner and CD's, you just reminded me to to remove the wheel nut covers. Should save a few grams.

  • Author

I'm completely removing the whole of the rear seats, the entire contents of the glovebox and boot, and the spare wheel.

It makes for one really nose-heavy car :D
