Get rid of Fabia vRS for Mk1 Octavia vRS??

Featured Replies

Have the chance to buy a really nice Mk1 Octavia '54 plate in yellow... 40k, 1 owner. Standard car in really nice condition..

Should I get rid of an equally nice '05 plate Fabia vRS...35k and buy the above?

Don't need the extra space.... just about personal preference and choosing.....

Opinions appreciated please...............

no, you'd be mad.

Probably wont make any sense financially but IMHO octy looks better, goes better (if furby is standard) and you have the option of a big boot if you need to carry anything or if anyone annoys you and you need to get rid of em:rofl:

Weigh up the pros and cons. Off the top of my head more space, more pace, less mpg, higher insurance, higher road tax (I think). Then decide which actually affect you and see what you're left with.

Personally I couldn't stomach the drop in performance going from my Octy to a Fabia.

no, you'd be mad.

Why's that then ???

Did we have a senior moment there?

TBH, I went from a Fabia to an Octavia vRS and loved it :)

Only major gain would be extra space and theop says he doens't need it. Performance can be upped on the fabia if that's his kind of thing anyway. Irrespective of registration plates, the octavia is an older car design wise and I'd say it'd be a step backwards in that respect. The fabia should continue to be cheaper, fuel, tax and insure. In my opinion it's a no brainer.

Rob I think you should keep your Fabia as it's so tidy :);)

Thanks mate.... More likely to keep the Fabia vRS I think......... Would like your interior though :)

Depends on your driving style really.. my furby was a more "fun" car at sensible speeds, always having the torque to squirt past slower traffic... my octy was just as fast but you had to wind it up before it would show it... plus octys are getting to the age where they have their niggly issues like pipes perishing - i only kept my octy for 2 months before i got something better than both cars :D

Well I havent driven a Fabia vRS but I CAN say that my Mk1 Octy vRS was the best car I've ever had , and if I couldd have afforded to keep it , I would. I still miss it and thats after 6 years.

I was told that the resale values of banana octavias are lower because not many people would consider a yellow 'un. Personally I like them, especially with dark/black alloys on them.

Give it a test drive and and if you like it, see if your wallet is up to the challenge.

I wouldn't say no.

it's not like the bar was set especially high...not that the Octavia is anything special either

:)

I think the Octy vRS looks great in Yellow, so much better than a boring 'red' Fabia.

I used to like the Fabia vRS but the more i see them the less i like.

Apart from the running costs of the Fabia there is nothing that i would choose above the Octavia.

So you know what i think you should do! :)

no, you'd be mad.

Yes, mad not to sell the Fabia and get the Octy pronto! :P

If your selling your fabia

why not buy a Honda CTR

roughly the same size as the fabia and faster than the octy

best of both worlds:D:D:D
