Just a heads up for those looking at the £50 Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror option.

I had thought it was the same as I had on my L&K Octy but alas it is not.

On my Octy all the mirrors, centre and wing, auto dim.

On the Superb Elegance with the £50 option only the centre mirror auto dims.

Very disappointing, my Octy saved me from a lot of eyestrain when driving at night, strange to go up a model and down in spec.

Yup, I thought that was odd too. I had a Saab 9-5 before the Superb, and all the mirrors dimmed!

Its the same across the current range of octys as well. On the latter Octy mk2 L&K only the interior mirror dimmed, it was only standard for a short period.

In my elegance, all mirrors dim. I tried. And it`s a standard model.

Well i got a skoda superb II 1.9 TDI PDF and all the mirrors dimms if the outsie mirrors don´t dimm go to the dealer they put hm in the Vag Com and he stays OK

If the mirrors have a blue tint, then they can dim so get a dealer to check.

So should the outside mirrors dim on everything fitted with an interior dimming mirror? Wondering now about my Octy Elegance........

Not on the octy elegance no, mine dont either.

When I ordered the rear dimming mirror the description ie Auto dimming rear view mirror and the fact it was a £50 option left me in no doubt that the side mirrors (FWIW they are door mirrors NOT wing mirrors) didnt dim i surprised that people would think otherwise it seems very clear to me

My drivers mirror on my Mercedes leaked the electrolyte that is used to enable this feature and left a tide mark half way down the glass meaning the bottom still dimmed but the top didnt , the cost for a new one £200 just for the glass !!!

in the brochure that i ordered my car from it says elegance model comes as standard with

"electrically foldable door mirrors with auto dimming function"

however i think this was a misprint as this is not technically possible unless you order the extra auto dim rear view mirror. I believe this was correct in future brochures
