recovery assistance

Featured Replies

I received a letter telling me my skoda assistance is up for renewal £84 for the year. Alternatively i've got a quote from greenflag for recovery plus which is £74.

does anyone know how good skoda assistance is? reading the leaflet it says they have their own fleet with specially trained skoda technicians? to be honest i thought they used the rac?

they make it sound like the recovery trucks are skoda badged? never seen those before..me personally

When I called them they couldn't respond for 2 hours so I called the AA and they can in 40 minutes. I like the AA because they cover you rather than the car, so you can call them out to any vehicle you're in. More people might do this now as well, but when I joined up almost 20 years ago, they were the only ones.

Try seeing how mcuh cash back you can get on RAC, AA, and Greenflag in conjunction with Quidco.

Quidco - The web's cashback cooperative I had £20 from Greenflag. (And £45 on my insurance with Swiftcover). Nice.

Skoda assistance is provided, I believe currently by the RAC, used to be the AA. Skoda assistance I believe is also valid throughout the whole of Europe so factor in the European cover for comparing prices as the Skoda offering is a whole lot more.

My AA cover will recover the car back from mainland Europe. I also had the letter from Skoda and the cover is nothing special. Plus, they will only recover the car to a Skoda dealer if the can't fix it at the roadside, so no good if you want to use an independent.

Skoda assistance is provided, I believe currently by the RAC....

It was the RAC who came out when our vRS wouldn't start a couple of weeks ago. The only difference is you call the RAC on a different number to the usual RAC number and they answer it as Skoda Assistance.

I just renewed my green flag cover but instead of covering both vehicles it was cheaper to cover the drivers and no matter what car you're in you can get rescued etc! Think it was about £60 (cars are 54' Fab vRS and 06' C-Max)

They came out within 25 minutes when I used them :)

Try these guys, Gem excellent price, quidco and when I called them out took 45 mins

You need to think of the future and what you may do

I bought the two year SKODA then unfortuanatley bought a new VRS, the cover stayed with the previous car and it was not considered in the trade in so I got zilch back

AA and RAC (who do the cover for VW SKODA group) cover the owner not the car

SKODA/VW have their own badged vehicles in major cities

Greenflag appear great but did not do the cover I wanted at the time Too many clauses and conditions

So really do what you are doing, get peoples experiences and add it to your research

One mans meat is another mans poison Though IMHO the extra paid to cover the person rather than the car is worth much more than it seems

National

I renewed my Skoda Assistance, asked the question about recovery to Dealership or Indie and was told garage of your choice as car is no longer in warranty, I don't know if they have changed the policy but I found it to be very comprehensive and a good price 130pounds for 2 years IIRC.

I know Audi and VW do their own assist scheme as well but only in normal business hours, out of hours the AA or RAC take over. The good thing about Assist schemes is the breakdown tech. is more likely to diagnose & fix your car due to his special knowledge of the Marque. As said above sometimes it will take longer for him to arrive.

It is worth checking your bank account or insurance priviledges as some include Breakdown insurance. I'm with Lloyds bank and I get AA recovery as part of my deal.

I have just renewed mine at £145 for 2 years, from the bumph it appears to be about as comprehensive a cover as you can find and the cover extends throughout Europe. The fact that the cover is for the car is a positive as it means swmbo is covered when she drives it, cover for the person is not an issue as the other car is under 3 years old and covered in its own right.
