Stuck wheel

Featured Replies

I want to remove my front wheel to check my pads - and the wheel is stuck fast. I have removed the bolts obviously, given the wheel to hub a reasonable bashing with a rubber hammer - but just can't shift it.

Any ideas?

Try that or try putting the bolts back in looseish and lowering the jack until it goes pop.

Then use copper slip on the hub face too stop it happening again.

First make sure the car is secure on say a axel stand, and spray some WD40

or alike round where the wheel fits on the hub, let it soak (while having a tea break)

and then rock the wheel (top/bottom) left and right till it come lose.

But don't let the car down onto the wheel with the bolts loose, you could do some damage

This is very common with alloy wheels and surface corrosion. It will come off, you just have to be a bit ruthless and give it some elbow grease......

I found a rubber mallet helped. Give it a bit of a **** around the edge and it should come off ok mate.

I have had this problem before. I gave mine a good kick - but I wasn't overly bothered about my old 13" 5 spoke alloys!

Always found some very hot water poured over the centre of the alloy helps.....different rates of expasion :D and then a big hammer

Had the same problem the first punture I had.

I know keep a hide/copper mallet in with the spare tyre.

Give it a good wack from both side as you rotate the wheel and it will come off.

before you put the whell back on clean it with a wire brush (on a drill is easier) then copperslip the joint.

Hope you get it off.

in really severe cases we would leave 2 bolts lightly tightened and go forward brake reverse brake till a "tuck" sound came to show it had released

just kick it to death u girl lmao:rofl:

Not sure about the alloys but on a previous car, with steels, I found a heat gun worked a treat
