Hi there,

I'm in the process of thinking of changing the Fabia vRS for the Roomster.

I've always loved the Scout version of the Roomster but I also have fallen in love with the SE the model below the Scout.

SWMBO would like it in oceaon Blue and after looking at the Brouchure and seeing the ocean blue on the cover and inside with the sunset glass, I'm about 80% wanting to purchase it.

I would be speccing it with the 1.9tdi 105bhp engine and prob going to stick cruise control on and 16 inch alloys, the RRP is £13925 If IIRC but thanks to NokiaUK who found the same car on drive the deal and specced it worth a few added extras, he got a price of just over £12,000.

I'm going to purchase brand new and aim to keep the car for about 3-4 years as I have never purchased a brand spanking new car in my life, I sort of want to keep it for that little bit longer.

So what are your opinions should I go for the Scout or SE??

Hope you can help?

I scratched both bumpers of my 3 on holiday and it cost £300 to have them repainted, so I recommend the Scout as it has sensible black plastic bumpers.

Scout comes with ESP and 16"'s as standard

It generally comes out as being better value TBH or at least it did when I bought mine

In addition to the features listed by Calomax and Decron, I preferred the less fussy interior of the Scout.

When you do order, don't forget the centre rear head restraint is not standard (£50 option) and you may wish to specify a skinny spare wheel (£40 option) in place of the goo can. When I ordered mine, a full-size spare wheel was not an option.

Thanks guys,

I noticed that you have to pay about £40 for a tyre, which I think is a disgrace in someways but I would prefer the tyre over a can anyhow so will have to factor that in.

I'm still thinking Scout at the minute.

Does anyone know if I can get a scout in Ocean Blue??

Cheers Simbo,

Found the link for drive the deal could get a nice roomster scout for £12565, with 17 inch alloys, cruise control and the spare tyre chucked in for nothing.

Think will have a proper play later on and maybe visit Skoda at the weekend to discuss a good price with them.

engine is 1.9tdi on drive the deal and Stuart's (NokiaUK) done me another quote with the 17 inch wheel, cruise, armrest and something like about £12783 or something like that.

Modding it....

NEVER...... Got to sign a disclaimer not to mod it

Well I might, have the mods lined up in my head already!

:rofl::rofl:

I'm afraid to say she knows that I will mod it!

Well I think I've got my options sorted on the Roomster, think I've decided that I'm going to go for a Scout in my head and take it from there, all I need now is my dealer to talk figures once I visit and take it from there.

I still owe money on the Fabia but think I will use the money my late grandfather left to me to pay this off and whatever I ger in on trade in I'm going to say maybe put another 2k towards the car and pay the rest of on Finance say over 3-4 years.

Watch this space as I'm going to speak to SWMBO tonight and maybe try and get down later in the week as I've got a couple of days off this week.

One of the reasons why I'm thinking of changing and don't get me wrong on this is that the Fabia seems to attract the wrong kind of attention at present ie SWMBO was followed to work the other day by a unmarked traffic car for a distance of about 3 miles and the local boy racers always seem to want a race as well!

I have to admit I've done 25k in the Fabia in two years and is simply the best car I have owned, when I first started looking at the Skoda brand I was only going to purchase a Fabia1 1.2HTP and I have no hesitation in going for another Skoda, I used to joke about the Roomster but have grown to like it since.

You'll love the Roomster, I Promise :D

Oh, and Scout hands down. See if you're dealer will throw in the made to measure sunblinds for you as they are well worth it but £200 for the set

If you can stretch to the 17" wheels too as they look lush

17 inch alloys would be on my wish list, think iI have seen Fluffmeister's Roomster on the 17's and they do look lush, I quite liked the Maroon version of the Roomster I looked at while waiting at Skoda on saturday but I don't think my family would appreciate having me pull up in a maroon car which would display the rivel football team's colours.

I take it privacy glass is a option on the scout?

Sunset glass is standard on the Scout.

Search the Forum for "armrest" before you specify one on your new motor. Some members find the armrest makes the handbrake awkward to use.

It is at first but you get used to it and it lifts up out of the way for city driving. I'm glad of mine on long runs because I was getting a sore wrist without it.

Voted SE as you get the glass roof, which i like :D

as for the armrest, up in town down on the motorway.

I, too liked the glass roof and specified it on my Scout.

Me too :)

I voted for the Scout because I think it looks much better (kind of how the Roomster should have looked in the first place) but any Roomster with the 16in wheels looks nice too :)

Hi all,

Thanks for the opinions guys, I've made up my mind now and going to plump for the scout.

Def go to go for the Scout, esp with the 17" Alloys

If you must - go Scout :)

Be very wary of the 17" wheels. But if you really want them, heck I'd swap mine out :)

They do look great but you soon learn to spot holes. Any potholes are a serious thwack and can be quite alarming. Had the steering wheel fight me on a few at night when I've not seen them. Thought I'd lost a wheel on the road from M74 to Edinburgh one night.

The roomster even in standard form is still making me happy driving, it's a really good holder of the road but it is lacking umph, so the 105 has to be the option, it would be brilliant with a 140 lump. I dropped from remapped Octy to Roomy, so lost loads of bhp, 100 ish but gained torque. You're dropping on both, good job they can be fettled easily.

That said I've not done mine; yet.

The scout is for me with a slight outdoor sports leaning a more practical vehicle. On top of that the plastic is covering half the chip zone / dirty area so it's a doddle to keep the lower half clean.

Re Privacy glass, it's standard as I recall.

Re Glass roof, if you want it, get it... we have a civic with the glass roof, the covers are nearly always drawn, QED.

Re Armrest, had one in the 4x4 octy, yes nice on long drives, but so is the door arm rest, I didn't get one as my anatomic profile fits the door rest.

Finally get the retailer to throw in the rear passenger seat to parcel shelf cover, I think they are £12... wihtout it it leaves a gap through which the boot is visible. However I tend to now have my parcel shelf on the lower mounts (yep two parcel shelf settings). Light stuff on top, heavy underneath, book looks empty to a passer by.

I'm looking forward to them dropping the 1.2TSI in it, that should be pretty decent. Same power as my 1.6 but more torque and more driveable too.

Been playing about again and decided on pacific blue, not seen a Roomster Scout in that colour before, plus I don't fancy spending £400 on Met paint. Going to pop into a couple of Skoda garages over the weekend to enquire.

Candy white for the Scout looks good too

I agree I thought about that too, esp with the glass roof, but winter would be a chore to keep it clean.
