I think I know which will sell the best .............and it ain't the EVO ..., people will still buy the Golf ...........it's a name that has been around for years from a company they trust .....if you want good beans you buy Heinz ....if you want a good hot hatch , you buy the Golf GTI ..

seems to ring a bell from the current advertising campaign,it probably dosen't cover the EVO though,have to read the small print or hit there website.

I'll shock you by quoting Dutch prices for both GTI and Evo. Don't try to recalculate to GBP - Dutch prices are ridiculous - but look at the gap!

Golf GTI: 31,995 euros

Evo VIII: 50,990 euros

In fact, the GTI's price here has been welcomed as a pleasant surprise, and is giving headaches to the Skoda people for whenever they want to launch the new RS and go beneath that mark - and they should and must, of course. Remember that the 'old' RS is now priced at 28,100 euros and the new Octavia is roughly 1800 to 2800 euros (the higher-spec models) more expensive than the old one. Skoda NL will be in trouble if they price the new RS at, say, 30,995 euros, which I believe is what they originally planned...

So what is it with VAG's price policy? First they launch the Fabia (v)RS that is unbelievably cheap in the UK and yet excruciatingly expensive in NL. And now they come with the Golf GTI - and it's precisely the other way around! :confused:
