Autoglym Lifeshine??

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I am very interested in getting Autoglym Life shine applied to my new Octavia VRS. I am situated in Northallerton, N. Yorks.

Does anyone have any advice/opinions?

How much should I be paying?

Anyone know where I can get it applied?

Your help is greatly appreciated!!! :D

It's a waste of money fella, unless it's very, very cheap.

The only good bits of the pack are the interior protection spray & the glass guard lasts a fair while, although not as effective as Rain-X or Carlack.

If you really want Lifeshine just buy it from the 'bay & put it on the car yourself.

What he said! :+1:

If you really want to put the money you'd spend on it getting it applied by a dealer, get it professionally detailed instead. Done properly the difference will be like night and day

Mines done, Got it for free. Good results but it should've cost £300

Like the rest of the treatments i.e. Diamondbrite & Supagard

you're effectively buying an additional paintwork warranty

Wouldn't bother it's a rip of for how much you can get it for from eBay. Look into a detailer if you want somthing doing. Don't believe this 10 year protection talk.

Heard it eats rubber trim and seals

I've got it on my present and previous car..£99...ok, forget about the 10 year warranty, but it gives you a really good base coat to improve on yourself..if you can get it for that price, i would go for it

I've been using 'Diamondbrite' for a couple of years, can be bought off Ebay for about £6. OK, it doesn't live up to the wild claims they make (it doesn't last 'years') BUT I do find it easy to apply and it seems to stay around a good deal longer than say Autoglym Super Resin and Extra Gloss protection etc.

I had it thrown in for free on the fabia, at first I did refuse the treatment as I wanted to be soley responsible for the state of my paintwork, however on the basis of 'owt for nowt' I went ahead. I have to say that the Fabia with the protection applied was the best new car I have ever seen (with regard to swirls etc) especially compared to the Octy and the mx-5, However If I was having to pay the money though I think I would still rather send it to a Pro detailer.

£99! thats a steal compared to the £300 the skoda dealers wanted for it......it aint going to stop scratches or bumps and judging by what you guys are saying it dont last that long! i like the idea of interior protection but there must be a cheaper spray you can buy-scotch guard type stuff. put the £300 toward insurance instead!

These finishes are all well and good but it all depends on the person applying it and how well they prep the surface to apply the finish..........

Having spoken to Chris_Focus about this, it seems that other products offer better protection...........:D

It's balls...:o

Well, the big bag of stuff you get with it has some great products with a decent quality reputation - I would guess that if you brought them seperately you'd prob be looking at around £50-60, not including the initial treatments they out on the car - sealant, glass polish and wiper washer top-up, plus of course labour.

Of course, you can get the kit from ebay relatively cheaply and do it all yourself. What you then miss out on is the 10yr warranty and the documentation. Now that warranty may mean little in reality - no external treatment is going go stop scratches and stone chips for example - but having all he documentation may add a small premium to resale values - although clearly not enough to cover the intial cost via a dealer.

It is a way for a dealer to get a decent mark-up, but you can always try and haggle depending on how you feel about the deal on the car in the first place. Personally I think it's a good product system, and got it myself with my vRS LE and have been happy.

In preperation for the winter, and with the car now being 6mths old, I used for the first time today the super-resin polish and extra-gloss protection that came with the after-kit and the results have been really stunning, they've given it a real showroom look again, so like I say I can't fault the products, the key question is if you are happy with the price...

mmmm.... Okay so whilst on the subject, whats the best scotch guard, glass shinerupper and bodywork wax/polish/whatever.....preferably that I can get from Halfords :)

Had this applied to our Fabia II Sport. Quite impressed.

I like the bag it comes with too

Still waiting for the documentation..We bought the car in April!!!! LOL

It's balls...:o

that's crap. I've no complaints and I've had it twice now...but I note what baker21 says.

Detailed another Briskoda member's car on Saturday with said finish having been applied by the original owner, seemed to have some good protection there but not sure if it was added by the current owner........

Unfortunately there were still swirls and scratches..........:o

Well as we've seen from some post-PDI details of new cars, they often have paintwork imperfections from the factory :(

So all the dealership will be doing is 'lifeshining' in any swirls and orange peeling :)

:rotz:I was offered it on mine for £300 and after saying NO they said that when they do a small car they 'have some left over' and offered a lower price without the guarantee  so its just a large profit making scheme. Anybody else had the hard sell ?

Apologies, I was under the influence when I posted that. Bad idea. I don't actually have experience of the product, just word of mouth, which isn't always reliable obviously.

Apology accepted ! and again I note what the subsequent posters have said.

For £99 or £300 i think it's a rip off. I spent about £35 worth of cleaning products from halfords, bought some autoglym resin, super gloss resin thing but can't see why autoglym is so expensive. i think i'm going to stick with mer when the autoglym runs out.

i also don't see what 'pros' can do that you can't do at home. all you need is a sponge to wash, a leather cloth to dry the car and a micro fibre cloth to polish

Sorry, but I have to

Have you had a look round here at the results obtainable with an orbital or rotary polisher? Or pop over to Detailing World :)

If you think the best method of washing your car is by sponge, then fair enough.

Agree with your comments on AG as I am not a massive fan and only a couple of their products are worth the money but not sure about your last comment...........:o

Used to think the same as you mate but then I discovered how things can look with some time and the right products and it's a different league..........

As Wardy has said if your happy with your sponge and leather then fair play.........
