Definately feels more torque than the maxed ko3. Looking at Harry's map the higher torque than my graph looks like a spike more than anything else, still hovering around the 300lbft like mine.

is that your graph then????

is that your graph then????

i found sibarts power was very smooth however his seemed to be putting out a lot less power than you and harry. could do with trying a revo stage 2+ then a k04 revo conversion after to see the difference to see if its worth the extra dosh, cos its alot of extra money (unlss you get a bargain second hand).

Well for those of you who are interested, here's the result from the acclaimed rolling road at JKM:

jkmdyno.jpg

Higher peak torque at 295lb/ft and 2 less hp. I'm going to work on smoothing out the curve at the beginning of the map but don't want to introduce any fuel cut.

I'm pretty happy with it, any comments welcome

After driving 363 miles on a ko4 equiped car i have to disagree with you, it can make more progress than a maxed out ko3 no probs at all, regarding the wet i don't drive like a loon, it's not safe anyway. Good to meet you by the way

And you mate  The power delivery of a K04 is going to be quite different than the K03 and I can understand how it can be much more tractable. My post was referring to K03 really.

Any ideas why the KO4 and injectors has made the car more economical? There is nearly a 4-5mpg difference with the same driving versus the maxxed out ko3:confused:

thats a nice amount of torque there ben.thats pretty much just short of what im running on mine with stage 2+(different rollers though)

plus your holding your power at the top for a long time at 260bhp. much better than a peak figure for bragging rates.

What additional mods are you running. cai dp or TBE etc.

any chance of posting your original dyno sheet in with this one to see how they compare without having to swap pages

I think a fuel pump and some specific mapping from your self could get your torque coming in quite a bit earlier and for longer

suppose the K04 doesnt need to put in as much effort as the k03, plus with more lag does that mean that at lower range your wont be on boost as often as the k03

Mine is also more economical. It's also because of the increased power you don't need to push it to get anywhere.

Congratulations by the way Micky, I hope you are as pleased with yours as I am :)

I can still say I have the most powerful Mk2 in England tho :P

I couldn't get down to see you this week sadly Ben.

I think the graph of your car backs up my earlier comments a few pages back, yes you can attempt to 'map out' fuel cut but it's at the expense of a nice smooth power delivery. If you want the power low down, which is what we all want, then you need the fuel. Simplesssss

What's the timing doing when you see that sudden stop 2600rpm?

It'll be interesting to see your results when you've had a little tweak with it.

Hmm, tried to copy the excel table in but that didn't go well.

I'll find a way to display the spreadsheet in here somehow.

Printscreen is your friend :)

Yes but I have a huge screen! It could make it difficult to read on smaller laptops etc. I will sort it out later on

As Sy requested, as I forgot to do it. I will also put some logs up later on, building servers at the moment :(

thanks very much mate. they are both extremely similar probably even more so when you take into account the different RPM scale. looks abit like maybe a bit of wheel slip on the rollers ealry on which could explain the jagged bit @ 3000RPM. above 250bhp between 4500-7000rpm is nice though.

honestly get the fuel pump mod. 300 quid for the internals and you will not regret it when you feel the extra torque comng in lower for longer.

Keith mentioned that although noted that I have good tyres on so didn't expect it to be that. Possible though.

Ben - lots of 'ifs' coming up, but if you decided to go the uprated fuel pump route and if you decided APR is the [pricey] way to go, I'm looking for one as well so we could potentially get a discount somewhere.

Cheapest I've found so far is using the rebuild option, from the US, at around £420. I do have a spare pump though, which makes this a viable option - not so easy if your car will be down for a while. Also might get stung for customs tax on the way back in.

Can't see it being wheel slip. The tyres i'm using are the worsed crap i have ever fitted and they didn't slip on the dyno with the ko4.

Come on Chris.. I travelled all the way to JKM in an effort to retain continuity, you could at least pop down the road and post some properly comparable figures :p

I don't think it's wheel slip either, so when I get time I'll be working on the car some more to smooth out that delivery low down

Possible clutch slip? I know sometime ago i was experiencing slip but seemed to have stopped, i was worried it would return with ko4 but luckily not, but when temps drop it might

I personally thnk the APR fuel pump is a waste of money. all they have done is taken a std pump and installed uprated internals themselves and put a huge surcharge on it.

there are oodle s of people on the golf forums runing stage 2+ without having the apr pump and instead use KMD, autotech internals and are having no issues what so ever. I did aa massive amount of searching for problems through the forums and all i could find was a bad batch a few years ago.

£700 for APR fuel pump or £300 for internals and £50 labour to fit it. Its a no brainer for me.

although im not saying the APR is no good, cos it undoubtably is, i just think it is oreendously over priced.
