Traffic cops vRS

Featured Replies

I noticed a vRS on an episode of 'Traffic Cops' doing licence plate checks to get ne'r-do-wells without insurance (and usually MOT or driving licence) off the road. I was surprised they left the vRS badge on though. I know it's pretty small but for an 'unmarked car' I would have thought losing the badge would be better. IIRC the cops rated the car for performance and handling, and 'traffic' have some other fairly meaty cars available.

FYI it was episode 7 series 4 'Weapon of Destruction'.

vRS' are not an uncommon sight on either Traffic Cops, Road Wars and a couple of other programs.

The vRS is very much liked by the police, it's got the performance the police need etc.

Always makes me smile when I'm watching the program and I see the little vRS badge.

There used to be a Mk1 vRS near Hereford, silver. Covered in black lumps that were obviously lights. Stood out quite badly for an "unmarked" car

Suffolk police have an unmarked 06 Silver Mk2 estate, debadged. The fact it had the vrs bumpers but no badge on the front grill told me something wasn't right when it followed me. You could just about see something was in the windscreen, but not what. That and a small black box (assuming camera) on the rear. They've done a really good job on hiding the lights, I had no idea where they were located until it lit up like a christmas tree as it disappeared off on call.

When I was in Dorset they were the traffic cops preferred method as they could keep up with anything around town etc. The 5 series BMW was preferred when a long pursuit was on the cards. Hampshire have a silver and race blue to their name, and now in Warwickshire they have a silver one too which likes to sit on the M40.......waiting for you to hit the magic 85mph.

Our vRS was taken away last week. Replaced with a 59 plate FL diseasal 4x4. POS in comparison,

...and it's for this reason that some low-lifers decided to break into my house while my family and I were asleep upstairs, take my vRS' keys (plus other sundry items they found - wallets/purses/cash etc) and drive off in my Octy!

They then outran the police in their vRS (I think!) as they did over three other houses in Gloucester...grrr

However, the fools were caught after parking it up on another officer's beat :D

They're due in court next month!

A week or so back I passed two unmarked vRS in silver, a Mk I and the other a Mk II both hatchback. They were parked up outside the village shop in Wetwang on the A166.

Seen the Mk I on occasions in that area.

Leicestershire police have a number of silver vRS's - hatch and estate. Mostly with registrations beginning FJ08.....

There are a couple around south east Essex/M25. Not sure if they are Essex or Met police

Yep, there's a few round here - tend to see them on the M6 patrol stretch between here and Stoke.

They were definitely using a silver Mk1 vRS, not sure about Mk2s.

Got a couple of marked ones down here in Camborne in Cornwall, they take great joy in driving against each other or competing with the estate unmarked Volvo, up a down our 6 mile long dual-carriageway, bless them.

Boys will be boys, and my car is faster than yours. LOL

Well, it was found (damaged ) but the insurance had already paid out & I'd bought another car.

Back to the Octy fold with a new FL vRS next week :D

...plus better security on my house :)

thats what i thought they appeared to be doing then i decided they couldnt be unmarked after all, and they were just "boy racers" having a little "play" against each other lol

middlesbrough police, have a blue, silver, black and red VRS, plates start with NX08, people always think im police when im out in mine until they see the 18 BBS's

I too saw that episide, looked fabulous :) A couple of mk 1's her in worcester. black one starting VU06 and a silver on VX54. they got a few new uns too, black mk2 estate vx08 and a few silver a black saloons also vx08. like sean GT says the local Chavs here think im the police . . . tis funny watching them stick to 40 mph everywhere, indicating and folowing the highway code to the word when you can tell immediately something it suspicious. what gets me laughing is when they try and outrun you, nd all i gota do it jus flex my toe a bit. haha love it! Vrs ftw!!! rant over :)

North Wales Police have three, silver and race blue VRS's and one black. They seem to be getting more popular around my area:eek:

LMFAO - I thought this was just me. The amount of people that come steaming up from behind in the other lane on m'ways/ dual carriageways and then deploy the anchors, move in behind me and stick religiously to the speed limit. Happened twice yesterday and once today. Amusing. :P

down here the police use a lot of unmarked focus estates reg wa06***, and my Dad bought a focus estate with a similar registration, i dont know if it is ex-police or not, and i borrowed it for a week between my old cars MOT fail, and getting the Skoda and the number of people who i seen slam on was unbelievable.it is so tempting to buy a set of strobe lights for it and go out and just have a little fun one night with the local boy racers in their wannabe sports cars that only are 1.1s.

Sadly the MK1 VRS in Hereford was written off in a chase one night near The Salmon pub......Now replaced with a MK2 VRS in silver with black parking sensors, so sticks out like a pair of plums on a bulldog. Reg is VX58***

That's useful to know. I'm off to N Wales soon.

Sean GT, REH17 and Chrispy. It's great fun playing plod.

I commute on the M40 between J12 and J10 and just sit at indicated 70 in the inside lane (40mpg). I've an extra antenna on the back corner of the roof for my Pure Highway DAB radio (which sits on the dash looking like a camera).

Time and time again people fly up behind me, then crawl past until they clock I'm a civi, and then speed off again.:D

For God's sake don't go 'playing' on the main trunk routes - they can be so hot on speed issues at times it's unbelievable.
