What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

Let the wife take it to her work to find out what is going on with the nearside rear tyre that keeps deflating even though it is brand new!

Big bas***d nail and apparently cannot be fixed. Not at all happy, waste of £55 :(

Lots.

Octavia: got two of her winters taken off the steels, put on alloys and balanced. Hoovered and removed chocolate from the seat ....

Recut a wooden black to support the jack on soft as ground after Mrs H threw the previous one way...

Washed and waxed.

Fabia got hoovered, washed waxed, screen wash topped up and oil checked.

Managed to put a very small scratch on the n/s front door. !*@$....

Put some felt tape on the legs of the dog guard I fitted on Saturday to stop them rubbing on the rear seat backs

Also put an air freshener in the boot area, in anticipation of impending damp dog smells

Bulbs

Replaced main beam bulbs H3 standard halogen ones with Osram CoolBlue Intense H3, also the W5W bulbs with Osram CoolBlue Intense W5W and...fog bulbs from standard halogen H8 to H11 Osram CoolBlue Intense, on SuperB

I have full trust in Osram since from years ago and keep to follow this tradition on ...

Very good quality and afterwards efect in using them.

Note to self: Remember to order spare wheel & toolkit :swear:

Keep looking on FleaBay.... I picked mine up for £70. Most will be collection only but eventually one will come along that's close enough to factor in the fuel and it still be much cheaper than the £150 or so for a new spare & toolkit.

Come the weekend & a meet up with your buddy, I'll have 4 spares! :D

A total pain in the whatsit. The whole episode. In total, 6.5hrs of my life I'll never get back... :swear: Still, could have been worse I suppose.

Lesson learnt!

what happened simbo you have a flat

Washed and waxed ready for a trip away to Devon! Also washed and SRP'd SWMBO's Kia Picanto for the first time this year. That's right, this YEAR, don't ask!

Fitted LED DRL bulbs (P21, Samsung LEDs) in SuperB, but totally mot happy with final result, they look too much blue or blue/purple rather then xenon white, what was my wish for in first place. So waste of cost or better to say, 20 EUR...:( (off eBay)

And for imagine, no error on dash shown...

So searching next for a CREE version and better quallity and -'xenon-white' light...

I don't want to rain on your parade but does a full size alloy fit in the spare wheel well in a twindoor?

The spare wheel for a Superb is a 205/55 R16 so is 20mm narrower than the normal wheel.... My new spare only just fits under the boot floor (i.e. it's a very very snug / pefect fit under the boot floor. I don't think a tyre thats a couple of cm deeper / wider would fit with the boot floor back down?

Unfortunately I scratched the rear passenger window with bike in the back of Roomy, its taken some of the tint off and not sure if its "etched" the window as well. Its not a big scratch but would rather not have any if possible, very annoyed with myself letting it happen, any ideas if its repairable ?

Posted in Roomster Forum too.

Glass scratches can be repaired. I believe chips away can do them. I have also been given a number in the past for a guy in the Sheffield area that does this but i never had to use him. My Superb has got a couple of scratches on a couple of the windows but they aren't too noticable unless the sun shines on them. I might look into getting them repaired at some stage.

Yeah the diameter of the wheel is the same so it fits in the wheel well in that respect but the spare is a 205/55 rather than a 225/40 so when it's laid flat a normal alloy wheel will be taller if you see what i mean.

As i say my new spare is a very snug fit under the boot floor and if you push down on the boot floor you can feel the wheel underneath so i don't think you'd get an alloy under there that is a couple of cm deeper without it pushing the boot floor up by about that amount.

Also the toolkit wouldn't fit snugly in an alloy either as it will be too small for the size of the alloy so would move about in the alloy...... That's if you buy a toolkit that is.

Maybe they changed the design of the bootfloor etc.... His is a 10 plate mines a MY11 60 plate and i'd be surprised if a Themisto fitted under my boot floor. The car my spare came from was also a MY11 and you can see where the boot floor of that car has rubbed on the tyre's side.

Thanks, what about the tint, is that repairable too ?

Not sure about the tint I'm afraid.

Magic marker???

Tamiya (scale model company) used to make a range of semi transparent paints including a 'smoke' one.

Suitably thinned or layer, would that help?

I will experiment with various things ( marker, felt tip, thinned paint, etc..) on some old bit of glass, thanks for the suggestions

Changed the windscreen wipers and topped up the washer bottle. :)

Updated the Columbus boot screen to the current OEM one for the new look. Only the steering wheel badge and keyfob badges to go now. :)

Paired my new phone (Huawei Ascend P7) with it - all working nicely :)

Upgraded the maps to v11 (8117).
