What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

Finally got around to fitting my new Brisky plate holders. I thought it would be a quick job, as the new plates haven't been on the car very long, but the sticky pads were well and truly stuck.

Car needs a clean but it's so dusty around here I'm not bothering until just before the Yorkshire Meet on Saturday.

  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

Replaced the nearside dipped beam bulb in my Fabia VRS removing the skin off my knuckles AGAIN!  Changing a bulb shouldn't be this hard.

Replaced interior light with one from a VW Bora with map reading lights. aqumazaz.jpg

Replaced front fog light bulbs with Osram Nightbreakers. Much nicer white lights now :)

Sent from my IPhone 5 using Tapatalk.

Sold it, just never got on with the DSG and the stressful sound the 1.4 engine makes with foot down.

Filled the car up this morning and only got 470-odd miles out of this tank...... I had been doing some trials using the sports mode on the DSG though during this tankful.... ;) and found a Pipercross filter on the bay for £20 new and sealed so bought that seeing as it was cheap as chips.

Also found out how to get audible warnings for my speed camera POIs on the columbus..... ;)

New pads and discs up front! Bit od a squeal going on now though lol

Put all sorts of stuff from 2 diy shops to build a rabbit run for the rabbits :) construction came along nicely this afternoon despite the heat!

Put it through its mot.... Passed with no real problems

Took it over 52,000 miles. A photo from when I stopped off at Tesco on my way to my mums.

Tried loading in a worktop that was 81", just too long. Loaded the smaller piece that was free for my sister. Did a tip run and hovered up the mess. Needs a good wash but it's too sunny and the job for today is completing the decking

Washed and hovered the MK1

Good grief Ben, you're keen aren't you? Half past ten and you've already done a tip run? Sod that, I'm on day off after being at Sunderland Air Show yesterday. Doing nothing today nursing my sunburn (considering I got no sympathy from SWMBO about it!)............

Mike

Mike, I knew the rest of the day had more in store for me. I have just stopped!

Guttering cleared where I could get to and the decking is complete. Also I wanted to beat the rush. When I was unloading I could say at least 8 in the queue, sod that

Gave it a full brake overhaul.

New Pagid discs and pads all round topped off with a fluid change. :)

Nearly went through the screen first time I came to a stop.

I'd forgotten what good brakes felt like :)

Cleaned 2,000 miles of French insects off the windscreen and my wife's foot prints from the inside of the windscreen....sigh.

Fitted my towbar wiring kit (an OEM Hella one!)

Can't fit the towbar as it's a vRS, but the wiring plug is hidden up inside the bumper, and will allow me to fit my bike rack with a light board! ;)

Essex girl is she?   :D

I don't even let the missus in my car.!!

Had the tracking and four wheel alignment done on the Superb. Then drove down to Bedford to collect a spare wheel and toolkit that I got on eBay.

Then to finish it all off she broke down on the M1 on the way home and I had to wait three hours till a Skoda Assistance/AA relay recovery truck came to take me home as they couldn't get a VW trained patrol to attend and check what the problem was.

Just got back home now after setting off at 8:30pm!!!! Got to call Skoda Assistance back again in the morning when I get up to arrange for a VW trained patrol to make a home call tomorrow to find the cause of the problem!!!!

Cheers

Dave.

Decided to swap wheel centre caps for new 2013 ones

No nut cover remover in boot

Big thanks to local Skoda garage for the freebie!

Then to find both rears seized on hub cos they've probably never been off in 3 years

Not easy getting em off when you're 10 stone wet through

All back on though, quick spit n polish and new caps in

All good fun

Not today, but yesterday, took it to Alton towers for the day.

I'm the one on the right (and bottom right of right hand photo)

Spoke to Skoda Assistance and had a VW Group assistance patrol come all the way from Lievrpool to Sheffield to check out the car on the driveway following last nights breakdown on the M1. Anyway he hooked up the laptop and checked it out and it looks to be a failed EGR valve (Symptoms last night were flashing glowplug/coil light and going into limp mode initially which would reset after turning off the ignition. Then after another 5 or 10 minutes the engine warning light stayed on steady as well as the flashing glow plug light and going into limp mode). We then took the car down to the dealers and the VW chap booked it in and it should all be done under the Skoda used car warranty.

The VW assist guy then sorted me out a hire car (14 plate petrol Fabia) for a couple of days so hopefully mine will be ready by then otherwise they've spoken to the dealer to tell them that the dealer will have to then provide me with a vehicle till mine is finished.
