Cheers, I was surprised how well it fit - still got to get used to the position of the volume knob, keep missing! haha

Finally fit grill sorround color coded...

Washed it and fitted the LED lighting in the boot.

Cheers

Dave.

Washed it, noticed that the front left number plate screw was coming out and had no cap on, so brought a screwdriver out to tighten it up but then thought I'd see how easily the plate surrounds would fit and saw that I'd need to drill new holes in the surrounds, as for some reason the plate is mounted in some new holes, not either of the 2 pairs of holes that are already there for the job! So I fitted the plate back on the car and went to the local car shop and bought 2 packs of screws as the car has black, yellow and white caps and there are only packs with just black or 2 white and 2 yellows. So they are ready for when I get round to taking the plates off, cleaning behind them, drilling the surrounds out and fitting the new screws.

While I was there I bought a flick switch because my mini compressor was really getting on my nerves, so since this doesn't belong anywhere and doesn't deserve its own thread here it is:

I cut one of the wires close to the pump where I was going to put the switch, then wrapped and soldered the wires to the switch:

Then I saw an empty tic tac box that seamed just the right size for the job, so cut the lid off and trimmed just a bit off so the switch would stick out the top and screw to clamp it onto the lid. Then I had to cut down the side of the tub to put the wires in and out of a hole in the bottom (If I'd have seen the tic tac box before I'd have left the soldering until after so I didn't have to cut through the side but oh well)

Then I taped it all up and put a little bit of red tape to mark the "off" position and away we go, no more annoying pump.

It fits in your hand well and I thing the 100 tic tac box is the perfect size for this.

Nothing major but another job ticked off the list - tdi badge removed from the Yeti

yesterday took it for a run in the yorkshire dales

Finally got around to getting the radiator fan sorted, no more overheating for me!

After getting the kids to spend the best part of an hour and a half cleaning and hoovering the inside yesterday, today I drove it from Sheffield to Gosport in torrential rain. Unfortunately I fried a hid ballast on the way so when I got here I had to put halogens back in the dipped beams for the next week or so :-(

Just noticed I missed quite an area on my roof with quick wax so it looks odd now, lol

Had to spend out on a new battery as the old one died.

Found the reason (or part of the reason) the battery died - mainly it was the original battery (yes, on an 06 plate Fabia vRS), and it was near the end of it's life...

But also because of my new stereo. When I wired it up, I assumed that "Amp Rem" was a trigger lead for the amp.

Noooooooooooooooooo... it's a constant live seemingly, so over the course of 36 hours it drained the battery dry!

good job you spotted this before going back and moaning about a flat new one

Or woke up and the car wouldn't start when I need to be at work!

Finally replaced my lost front badge. Surely added about 15bhp...

Edited by Iann-

Last night:

Surprised myself when it didn't start.

Jump started it, gave it a real good run out, plenty of high revs with all lights, fans, a/c, radio off.

Got to circuit training... Parked the car on a hill just in case (luckily I did in the end). Turned it off, tried starting it again... Nothing, just a slight 'click'. Red mist descended

I spent the next hour exercising like the hammers of hell, sweating like never before.

Bump started the car down the hill. Parked it up back at home.

Then sorted the rear brake on my push bike for this morning.

Time for taking out, testing, and possibly replacing, the battery this afternoon. Let's hope it is just a lose wire/the battery and not the alternator.

If it is just 'click' that you can hear and maybe see on instrument cluster a flickering of lights...then it 99% is a battery. And if show you arround 10.3 Volts or less, then yes, it is bad. Had that situation...

Exactly the same as mine on Monday. Replaced the battery and now seems fine.

I was lucky to have in that moment VCDS and a laptop with me...so when I connect I see error message allready " Low level voltage exceded". Clear the errors, start engine Ok (that time) and after second stop om parking place same situation, but no more 'clear error messages' helped... Call friend to connect to his battery to start car and to get home. Bought next day a new Excide Premium think 77 Ah), fitted it fires lika a gun since...;)

Everything under 10.5 volts is bad, very bad...

All I could hear was a click, the engine did try and then over once the first time , however the second time it failed to even try and turn over. I didn't try and further as I knew there is no point in trying with a flat battery when there is a nice hill to roll down and jump start it instead.

Do you think my battery will be completely dead then? I suppose I will find out this afternoon.

I hope mine is the same - I will be testing the voltage running to it once I've fitted it to make sure it isn't the alternator which has packed up.

Thank you both for the reassuring comments - fingers crossed it is just the battery.

JRJG

99% is battery...and 'click' sound is from releys under dash...that is normal. When low voltage level occours, protection is activated (of electronic). Eeeeee....be carefoul by using hill to start car...ok for petrol (more or less) engines...but dangerous for diesel ones...
