My new White VRS TSI

Featured Replies

After a 3 month wait I finally collected my new VRS petrol yesterday.

Very pleased with it and love the colour.

Interior is good quality and the Bolero is a nice bit of kit.

Had a steady 40 mile drive home on A roads between 40 -70 mph and got 41mpg showing on the trip. Impressed.

Car came with mats -no Vrs logo on them.

Purchased the boot liner with bumper protector (SMDA619001 @£38) as I scuba dive and tend to damage bumper whilst kitting up.

TSI logo on engine with no soundproofing.

Dunlop Sport maxx tyres.

Steel spare 16 205/55 bridgestone.

Worth the wait

Lovely

Good level of info there too, which will be helpful to people as well I imagine :)

In your excitement to send the pics you've forgotten to update the tag from 'ordered' to arrived ! Now sorted!

Nice to see you did the right thing and ordered the spare wheel....

Put aside a few hours this weekend for a good detailing session prior to winter though

Good spot! Can't believe the spare wheel is optional now

Yeah, definitely get at least one coat of a decent wax on there before winter sets in, if you want to stand any chance of keeping it clean :) I'd recommend some Collinite 476S myself

Mmm... that's lovely!

Very nice, i really like the new Octavia it looks a bit dare i say it 'japanese' .... Not sure on the superb i think it's a bit of a half way point, more of a car to be driven in.

how come theres no sound proofing? are they all like that now?

I think it is cost cutting. Not sure how much difference it would make to the noise on a petrol. Previous posts state that the diesel vrs has soundproofing on the bonnet as standard.

Sound proofing was the same on the Fabia compared to the likes of Seat etc. You could buy the cylinder head soundproofing foam from a Seat dealer for the PD130 for about £30. Made a subtle difference but not much so it's definitely cost cutting. This is the 'budget' marque in VAGs line up after all.

The FL otherwise is growing on me. I definitely like what they've done with the front on the FL VRS with the sidelights etc. Hate it on the non VRS's though. Looks almost Korean.

Good colour choice too. Looks very smart in white. Seems it's the new silver as I'm seeing looooads of white cars on the roads now.

With the boot liner, does it extend to cover the backs of the back seat when it is folded flat, i.e. the whole load area

Also is it attached to sides or the floor or does it just lie in loose

I presume when not in use it just rolls up

Hi

The boot liner partially covers the rear seat backs when they are folded forward but only 20 cm. Enough to cover the gap/exposed pivot points etc.

It is secured by clips/bungee cord in 8 places. 4 top corners using the loops/lashing points via bungee cord.

Then the 4 bottom corners are clipped to the boot floor lashing points.

I addition there are velcro strips that fix to the carpet and some velcro pads that stick to the back of the boot somewhere near the warning triangle holder.

The parts guy put it in for me. Took him longer to open the packet that it did to fit it.

The corners are folded with velcro to give it the box shape and with no seams it should be watertight although I won't be filling the boot with water to prove this theory.

It is fabric so easily folds. The packet it came in was not much bigger than a pack of A4 paper.

Attached scan of instructions. Ignore #8&9.

The fabric appears to be robust but would not want to shift bricks etc to to tip with it (I would use my Wife's car for that ;))

It's been documanted on here before that diesel's get the soundproffing and petrol's don't. Surely you petrol boys aren't suggesting your engines are so noisy they need it...are you?!

Looks like white is the new speed blue for these.

Prepare to see the streets littered with people washing there cars!

ooooh, suits you sir!

That is lovely mate.

Yep, my diesel FL vRS has the soundproofing under the bonnet...

you,ve got to get rid of the two bits of red tape under the bonnet! should have been done at pdi!! he he ;)

Thanks for that and the diagrams

Just what I want and will order one when I collect my new VRS

as to the sound proofing..the new tsi petrol is noticeably more quiet and refined both at idle and on the move compared to my mk2

it much quieter when you are in the cabin or stood beside the car
