How to modify without the wife knowing :)

Featured Replies

Ok, well not quite wife, but soon to be....

She's insistant that I do not modify this car like I did my Mondeo Zetec S TDCi :finger:. But I just can't resist a remap.

I'm wanting to keep is subtle so that she won't notice, what do you suggest in terms of a remap, brakes and something to stop the lean when cornering hard without adversely affecting the ride height and making the ride too firm (would a strut brace do this?).

Any help appreciated!

A stiffer front ARB would majorly reduce the roll in corners and I believe Eibach now make one for the Fabia - around 250 notes I think Andy quoted, but I can't remember. Slightly cheaper than the springs and dampers route and a bit less obvious :)

Lots of trips to "Asda" coming up to get the work done on the sly then? ;)

Chris

A trip to a REVO dealer will have you remapped in a couple or minutes. ARB seems a good idea as yours is damaged so the dealer is replacing it under warrenty ;)

With all those mods it'll end up being Netto  :D

BTW, whats a front ARB? is it a Strut Brace, and by less visible you mean, it blends in?

ARB = Anti Roll bar

It is the anti-roll-bar and is under the car so unlikely the wife will see it.... ;)

Superb

It was only last night I was having an argument with the other half about modding the car! Nice hidden mods are perfect for me :D

Anti roll bar, bushes and a switchable remap would do the trick. Run it standard with her in the car, turn it up when it's just you :D

Change the tyres for something more grippy in the standard size, uprate the pads and fluid.

Sorted :D

Oh and if you don't have xenons, subtle way of upgrading, go for either phillips vision + or the Osram silver stars in the dipped beam and fit some Phillips Rallye bulbs in the main beam :D

So Eibach for the ARB (how much and where from), REVO or AmD for a remap which is undetectable (I know REVO does an SP2 aswell which I would be interested in, I work in a dodgy area) & bushes? Which should I go for & who does them, and are they worth it?

I'm liking this, subtle modifications all the way! Ibiza PD Cupra 160 Air Feed?

:) :) :)

Had this very problem myself a couple of months ago..in fact I'm sure I did a thread on it!

Depends how wise to your little tricks and lies are on Mrs to be Hellfire matey. ;)

Switchable revo was the answer for me.....but make sure she doesn't see the credit card statement though

This is awful....encouraging lies! :finger:What will the girls say? :o

Seperate bank accounts until were married mate :)

A would say strut brace but when she lifted the bonnet up to fill it with washer fluid/oil she might notice the big red bar going across the engine bay, but it does stiffen the front end up alot, to compliment it a lower one could be purchased as well.

but when she lifted the bonnet up to fill it with washer fluid/oil

The day I see Mrs C.J. doing  that I'll drink the oil and soapy water!

Right what's her number I must call her so I can see you drink that DIRTY oil and soapy water :D

A geat pity you didn't buy an Octavia vRs - or better still the 4X4 - instead. Had you done so you could have opted for a Jabba remap and variable boost controller. Having done so, you could then have turned the boost up in miniscule increments each time you took her out in the car until such time as you had full boost. At that stage you could have commented that the car seemed to have loosened up nicely with age.

Sounds like your talking from experience there :D

Not quite. I'm having the controller fitted retrospectively but intend to use it to turn the boost down when SWMBO is driving. I am not optimistic that she won't rumble what I have done... :(

Q's the expert on covert mods. Q? Q??? :D

Drive Slowly in the car! Or if she drives it tell her not to go fast "love.... it uses to much fuel and damages the car" works a treat

hidden mods? Nah - why bother? HUGE wheels, big brakes, flourescent yellow strut brace, full WRC bodykit, MASSIVE 3 foot briskoda sticker (wonder who's got one of those? ;)) Bucket seats, Full ICE install. :D
