I got mines because i work in a pub... [P1*SST]

A pplate is on my wishlist but I always find something else more important to buy.

Plates here are 6 characters and you can have whatever you want on your plate for $7-800 as long as it's not taken or offensive.

There are some good ones around!

I found that "VRS" has been registered at some point and was on a Suzuki Vitara that was written off about 8 years ago - tempted to find the owner and make an offer :D

I've seen things like BUILDR, BOOBYS, SCRMOM, stuff like that. I saw a 4WD with 2TOWIT and the boat trailer trailer had 2FISH (trailers have their own 5 digit reg)

SKODA is taken (dammit) and has never been on a car. RSKODA was on the first Mk2 vRS in NZ.

Hmm...

I quite like the plate you got assigned anyway Rob! Nicer than our std ones here anyway...

But how about 'ROBVRS' :rubchin: - can you have a space in between on NZ private plates?

It's available :) And yes spaces are allowed wherever you want them.

I'd be tempted - mind you I'd just have 'Wardy' if it was available, and I happened to live in NZ!

Or perhaps 'VRS ROB' - ooh, decisions, decisions... :D

Steve

Damn it! Why me?! That's it then, I can't ever emigrate to New Zealand... :(

Magic! Maybe I should move down to NZ then, because my perfect plate, "BIGOAF" is available.

Mum bought me a cherished plate for my 21st, T21 TWE - my initials. Not all that great, but will certainly help to hide the age of cars in a few years.

I wanted E8 PUD and E8 PYE for my dad

As a family we were going to club together for a plate for my grandad, but he had a D reg Golf at the time, making choices a bit restricted. Did find 147 POT (he loves snooker) and it was up at £1295 at the time, which in hindsight was a bloody bargain, as I think its worth 10 times that now :(

Got mine as my darling (ex) wife who was divorcing me at the time could not understand where all my cash was going! spending some on the plate seemed like a good idea!!! Have never really been that keen on them, however when buying a brand new car and not wanting to advertise the fact incase some little scrote decides to key it, a personal plate is a great way to disguise the car is new.

Not sure about everyone else but i would be pretty annoyed if i had been christened either:

N10 KSF or J110 NJO, they are NOT your name, YOU just think it looks like it

so your telling me if spaced right you cant see what it says ?! N10KS F .

you must be the only person i know that thinks that

I agree to an extent - the correct spacing is N10 KSF which looks more like someone with the initials KSF tbh :(

Niok, i can see what it reads when spaced wrongly - is that the same? ;)

I nearly got AP 05 TER (A Poster) for £400 but decided it would be just too sad :)

That's made me think :rubchin:

Is anyone going to own up to having AT 05 SER ? :D

I hope you don't have a conveniently spaced yellow bolt over the middle of the 8 in a feeble attempt to make it look like an 0 like a guy that lives around here..

nope, mine is 100% legit

so your telling me if spaced right you cant see what it says ?! N10KS F .

No, it means you're trying too hard because you've had to alter the spacing away from the legal, original form of the registration :)

I bought mine as a 40th birthday pressie for myself - after requesting it from the DVLA and waiting 18 months for it to come up at auction.

It won't mean much to anyone that doesn't know me - but those that do will recognise it and that suits me fine.

Oh - and I had to laugh the other day - I saw X5 WLL....

....on an Audi Q7.

Hope he prefers it to the Beemer!

But if you look closely at his avatar, Steve, he hasn't spaced it illegally.

Good on ya Nick

  • 1 month later...

I've got a plate on my GTI that I got for my 30th, so it has the number 30 and my initials, and I got a nice early prefix to keep the list of cars I can put it on nice and open! haha! We've also got a plate on the Fabia which is my girlfriend's favourite number and her initials and another on her mum's car which has the letters WOB (sad really but it's the german designation for Wolfsburg)

A few years ago, my Girlfriend went to a DVLA auction to bid for SAM 13A to put on our old VW Bus (which is a Samba)... sadly she got outbid by the guys with the Gumball Rally Samba with the Porsche lump in :(

I've got X21 and then my initials. It was a 21st present from my parents hence the 21 and in a roundabout way it adds up to 13 which is my birthday date.

Personally I think, The DVLA are conning the Public into buying these Silly Plates. You can spend £175 upwards for something that resembles next to nowt. Then somebody says its my name, initials, along comes the Cop and says space's are wrong, £60 please Oh and £15 for that OAP that got mugged by that Young Scroat, and the Judge let him go with an ASBO. You can see who is the biggest criminal, DVLA for selling a Plate to a Muppet who carn't spell

yup, I have one. Got it for a 21st birthday present, and had been after it for absolutely ages.

It's a nickname of mine, which is fairly obvious, and doesnt need to me mis-represented in any way shape or form :)
