Is the Evo finally a uber-saloon?

Mitsubishi has launched an outrageous 405bhp Evo VIII to secure a crushing blow in its long-standing power struggle with Subaru.

Just 100 of the Evo VIII MR FQ-400 models are available to order now for

but economy is likely to plunge below the 20mpg mark.

.

You will be lucky to see 20mpg out of FQ300, I'd expect low teens out of the FQ400 and that's if you are taking it steady. :)

Who cares! :D

des, some people do care about this stuff, if ya don't then don't post mate

who cares!!!!!

My opinion OK with you.

If you don't like don't look.

BTW the "who cares" refers to fuel economy.

But harsh that aint it??

I agree with Delcac, If you spend that sort of money on a car with performance like it has then "WHO CARES" about fuel economy and figures of sub 20mpg!!

If you want economy then buy a 1.2 corsa!!

Exactly gives a toss about fuel economy on an evo? If you have the money to buy an evo then poor fuel economy is expected.

I agree with the economy comments on the near

I dont think its acceleration figures will be that good 4/5 up and a boot full of luggage will it?

Anyway....if I was spending that sort of money it would be a car with way more class and style.

Can't disagree with that.

If i was spending 50K on a "toy" it would have to be the Noble ;)

Yes the FQ400 is quicker to 60 than the Zonda :D

But harsh that aint it??

TBH I think Bengie got the wrong end of the stick, but still everyones entitled to an opinion.

Back to the Evo, seriously impresive car the new FQ340 MR. In Novembers issue of Track and Race Cars they've pitched a FQ320 up against a 487bhp and a (rub your eyes) 930bhp Evo VI around Bruntingthorpe. Whilst the FQ got battered in a straight line it was only 2.23secs slower than the Evo VI around the track.

Times for the monster EVO:

0-10.....0.64

0-20.....1.14

0-30.....1.56

0-40.....2.00

0-50.....2.45

0-60.....2.95

0-70.....3.63

0-80.....4.18

0-90.....5.01

0-100.....5.74

0-110.....6.51

0-120.....7.60

0-130.....8.60

0-140.....9.69

0-150.....11.01

Quite good I suppose.

sorry des but i did get it wrong, thought you were just saying who cares about the thread. i totally agree with the mpg thing, bugger it and have some fun.

when i tell them the mpg of my octavia they are taken aback a bit but then they don't have a turbo or 4x4 or a heavy right foot either

got the little project nova 1.5 TD sorted yesterday and that has real bad mpg when caning it but then again it actually goes like stink, i think its quicker than my brothers 1.8 focus zetec. can't wait to start actually playing with it now it works
