Worst aspects of the Octavia

Featured Replies

- we have a VERY irritating problem with the front, top dashboard storage compartment - it keeps popping open!

it started in the warm weather but now opens every 10 minutes or so! i'm sure the dealer will sort it but haven't seen it mentioned on these forums, so maybe we've got a dogy one, but still annoying.

Did this get resolved? Mine is doing the same now!

Know it's an old thread but my bugs are:

Creaky door while elbow leaning on it...

Dash compartment as above

Gear knob chrome chipping away and stabbing my hand

Aux input not working

Other than that I love my FLVRS!

  • no bong for low washer fluid, no steering wheel controls are the two that grind on me most.

Say GTi to some one they normally reply nice car, you have to explain the vRS which is a shame as IMO its a better car

  • My main issue with the vRS in particular is the ridiculously high ride height they have as standard.

I used super glue applied on the end of a needle to stick the chrome layer back down before it could break off.

If you're leaning your elbow on the door card directly adjacent to the window, I would advise you to stop doing that immediately as it is extremely flimsy and could potentially sag or rip. It has been reported on here via many threads, resulting on many occasions in a replacement door card.

Things I hate about mine:

  • Road noise
  • Sawtoothing/tyre noise
  • petrol TSI sounds like a tractor
  • Not quick enough
  • VRS manual doesn't offer MFSW
  • a twitch at idle that I feel pulse through the car. Very annoying...

Naff cheapo carpets with a really loose weave. They scuff up in no time. Not even as good as Fords. No excuse Skoda.

Mine does this too. Need to get a special comb to shave off the fluff but don't know what I need...

Rusty wheel arches.

On the Elegance version (and maybe others too) the seats and headrests are a magnet for hairs - far better than those sticky roller things.

They clean hairs off my clothes that I didn't know were there. And as for driving after getting my hair cut.....

I love my Octy Scout to bits, but it has been the most unreliable vehicle I have ever owned ; 30+ faults/failures/defects in 6 years of ownership.

The latest update is the EGR Cooler and NSR Differential failed two weeks ago at a total cost of £1036. Currently awaiting the warranty company to pull their effing finger out to pay for the repairs.

Dealership experience leaves a lot to be desired as well.

Sound proofing, sound proofing, and even less soundproofing.

Road noise,

Wind noise,

Crappy trim clips that are a PITA to refit correctly.

Poor quality plastics for interior handles and window switches.

The new models are too expensive. Road noise can be annoying especially when my previous cars where so quiet in comparison, no low level warning sound but I still love it, definitely was value for money

And yes there is some plastic trim that creaks that I need to locate and stop it.

Noisy door seals.

I've owned my car for a year July 2015, and I love it to bits but it's not without faults ....

Drivers seat could be a tad wider as my thighs run over the edge, more so driver's side

Road noise is quite obtrusive, wind noise maybe not as much

Harsh ride.. You can feel every ripple and bump in the road with the 17" wheels
