Anyone else have second thoughts about what they ordered?

Featured Replies

Eek It seems I've got the only storm blue yeti on ordered from the colour poll. Is this good or bad? I'm sure someone else on here had ordered one too. After thinking all the silvery shades were too common, I seemed to pass every blue van in the country this week. Please don't my Yeti look like a plumber's van. I've never seen a storm blue yeti in real life - the accessories brochure one looked nice but it is all blinged up with silver bits. Didn't go for the silver roof rails but maybe that would distinguish me from vans. AND now the 1.4tsi engine I wanted is being talked about appearing on the Yeti in the next few months!

Did anyone else get the jitters after ordering?

Jitters common.

Seen a Storm Blue or similar New Octavia Scout FL at the Dealer the other week, looked great. 1.4 still speculation and at least 6 months away if true I would think.

Stick with it I would say, you have a nice Monster on order.

Regards,

TP

Personally would always go metallic.

Storm Blue is a fine choice and was one of the final four colours on my shortlist. I have seen Yetis in Storm Blue on videos and it looked great. From a personal point of view having ordered the 1.2 TSI I would not be interested in the 1.4 because it will use about 10% more fuel and cost a fair bit more to buy. If the 1.2 had been lacking then maybe but I was very impressed with the baby engine.

My old Octy was Storm Blue. It looked good, but showed the dirt (like all dark colours).

I wouldn't worry - I did the 'have I done the right thing' bit a lot - mainly about the colour. You went with your wants and instincts initially and you'll be delighted with the result! emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Hi,

Car colour is a very subjective thing, hence why there is sucha range to choose from.

In my opinion your first instincts are usually the best, so I wouldn't analyse it too much. If you like the colour that's all that matters.

As for second thoughts, i did switch from the free Tyreweld to a 16" steel wheel spare, but that's about it.

I would think in a few weeks, when you hear your car is built and on its way, you'll be so excited, that all the doubts you have now will be well and truly forgotten.

Thanks everyone. I'll try and stop with the jitters. Now if I can just make my mind up over a rubber boot mat (things won't slide but liquid spills will leak on to the car floor) over plastic boot dish (less flexible, probably slidey but leaky liquids don't spoil the car) I'm done with all the decisions. Fortunately, I can take my time over that one!

I went with the mat because if you have the rear seats folded/removed the dish will leave a lip that'll just get in the way. That was my theory anyway!

I'm getting rather excited and it's not even my car!

The only thing I'm reconsidering is whether to order Park Assist, as it includes ESP making it a remarkable bargain!

What about this shade, seen at our concessionaires few months ago.

Don't worry Charlie as I too may start worrying.:0)

The "metallic" of the Storm Blue means that it sparkles when fine and looks superb!! - at least that was my logic.

I recall that an Honest John video road test had a blue yeti which I think was Storm Blue. Will try to find.

Look like it needs some cream and a black cherry on the top. emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Sorry I can't afford any more accessories :0(

Geordie Broon - are you another storm bluer? By the way I used to taste broon ale for a living at the old S&N factory in Newcastle. Not so great at the start of a 6.00am shift having 8 bottles to sip from the night shift. Also had to tune in to the very thick Geordie accent of the brewers. I was the only girl in the bottling factory and the only one under 30! I drove a lovely shiny red Micra from the North East at the time.

To HKPhooney - I have gone for Park Assist too as it is good value getting ESP and front sensors cheaper.

I think most people get the jitters about their choice of colour - so join the club. I have not regretted any of the choices I made, but will add the spare wheel and live with the smaller boot space.

You can forget about the 1.4tsi - it is a China specific engine, as it is currently built there. The 1.2 tsi is Skoda built, so they will most likely stick with it. It is simpler and cheaper than the 1.4tsi and I would expect that they will have planned a much larger production capacity than the initial, so they can expand their stature in the VAG group. Picking my Red one up next Friday!------- the only last minute thing i altered was rep[lacing the free Tyreweld to a 16" steel wheel spare. Also added Cruise control and rear sensors.

Cannot wait RED is my colour!!!!!

Yes Charlie - Storm Blue is the colour of the new decade :0) Will be collected 8 March when I will go on "Official" list

Never made the Brewery but certainly managed much S&N beer!!

I picked metallic Silver. No second thoughts at all. It looks great or at least it will when I clean it again when the roads get a bit cleaner. It is absolutely manky at the moment because if all the grit on the roads. Who said there was a shortage?

Yeah, my wife and I decided to change from Candy White to Muscovado a few days after ordering. We threw in Annapurna wheels and the park assist while we were at it. Funny that, after ordering white, we only saw white vans around...emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

The argument was that she likes brownish earth colors and since this is going to be her car it should be as to her heart's desire ! Other practical or resale considerations were thrown out. The silver roof rails are standard in The Netherlands on the Elegance and together with the silver side mouldings we ordered will add (according to us) a trendy SUV accent and contrast with the darker color. Personally I like the the Storm blue and anyway, Yeti is a non-conformist car so any non conformist color is OK as well ! emoticon-0105-wink.gif (my opinion)

With regards to the 1.4TSI I wrote some info on this subject in another post and hope not to have confused you..The question here is even if this engine is released, does is it influence your decision to move from the 1.2 to 1.4 ? I live and work in Maastricht, that's close to the German and Belgium border. I visited Sloda dealers in all 3 countries and all 3 told me that it's a matter of time before Skoda closes the gap between the 1.2 and 1.8 benzine models. One auto magazine here confirmed that this would be announced soon - but doesn't mention what it means with regard to timetable. I googled this subject and could only find something about China placing the 1.4TSI in the Yeti as Agerbundsen mentioned.

1.2TSI is great and again even with a 1.4TSI (if released) personally think the extra purchase cash, increase in fuel costs, insurance, road tax bracket (all higher in The Netherlands) doesn't justify it.

Conclusion: 1.2TSI is sufficiently power rated (and can also be chiptuned!) - if storm blue does it for you - stick with it ! emoticon-0103-cool.gif

and a fine decision - that's the colour i've ordered!!! second choice would have been Cappaccino beige.

storm blue - is one of the nicer colours.

Yeti's need bold or different colours - imo

I chose Aqua Blue for the following reasons:

1. drove a demo in same colour, the only one I'd seen in the flesh, so it was less of a gamble.

2. the brochure Yeti is mainly Aqua Blue and I believe maker's showcase cars in a colour that looks right.

3. colour can alter the visual perception of a car's shape and size.

4. light metallics don't show scratches as much as dark colours.

5. light and bright is a safe colour. Some colours make a car almost invisible on wet roads.

6. cos I'm a boring *** with no imagination and technically colour-blind to boot !

Your choice looks distinguished and when you are in the car driving you can't see what colour it is anyway but you will like driving it...................... good luck.

Aqua Blue is a good choice. This in mine with about 7 weeks road film on it.
