Uneven panel gaps on brand new VRS - pictures attached

Featured Replies

What ever about small gap difference but examples of where paint was touched I wouldn't be happy, new means new and untouched to me. If they wanted to hide a repair then it failed. tbh I think I'd walk. For you to notice them in the first place and go to dealer about it it obviously irritanted you and probably always will, tolerances and a great trick to pull (did they measure each one or do it with there calibrated eye :giggle: ).They are putting pressure on so not to spoil the sale for them, realistically what value would you loose on p/x. Some dealer somewhere would be eager, there was obviously a bit of le-way in your deal, the dealer definitely won't loose out.

Other option would be leave your old car with them, leave New car back, order new one, buy an aul junker to get you around for the few weeks sothey don't loose out on your old car re-sale.

  • How have the garage taken your decision? Hope their customer service as remained as pleasant as it was when they hoped you would still accept the vehicle.

And while the new car is on order, they have your current car and they go bust, meaning you are just on the list of creditors emoticon-0104-surprised.gif Sod that for a game of soldiers. Or they sell your current car, new one arrives in the same condition...?

If you aren't 100% happy, walk, and I'd be pressing for Skoda to foot any difference - you have been more than willing to co-operate, and they have messed you about with numerous visits and an extended wait for your new car.

I agree with Tom, you've done nothing wrong, they have in effect breached the contract, as the goods are not to the quality you should expect. They should be footing any difference in p/x price.

Technically, at the minute Nick hasn't waited any longer for the car than he planned to, as it was ordered for March 1st... He'll only have an extended wait if there is a new order placed..

However, I can't argue with the part about multiple visits to the dealer to try and get the issue resolved...

Oh ffs. This bloody car is winding me up. I'm winding me up! And I'm sure I've got to be winding the dealers up.

Now I'm not sure about the colour match on the repainted bit (mrs actually noticed this first amazingly!) and the paint on two of the parking sensors looks crap (rough and crazed like a bad first attempt at spraying a part with a rattle can) and another parking sensor is badly fitted.

If I could just look at it as a financial deal and mode of transport it'd be fine. None of these things anybody else would care about and obviously don't impact on future trade-in value. I was really happy with the deal too - if I wasn't I'd have just said no already I think.

I've thought about it and it's not that I've got cold feet about the whole thing - I like the car I ordered and I like the financials. I just can't get over a negative vibe about the quality of the car.

If it was just a financial deal and a mode of transport then you'd stick with your old car.

Obviously if you accept the car now it is going to bug you for months to come, you are going to be trying to justify accepting it to yourself for months to come until you get to the point where you really hate the car and end up selling it and losing a fortune. Or rather that is one synopsis.

Why are you changing cars, if it is because the deal is so good and it gets you into a new car that will last for x years more than your old one and the deal won't come along again then push for a couple of free services throwing in.

IMO though it sounds like you would be better saying sod it and keeping the old car a while longer, or at least 'till the next deal comes along :)

That says it all Nick - if it's bugging you that much now, think what it will be like in a few months

Walk away

I think this says it all

You might be thinking you could learn to love the car if you accept it, even with it's minor imperfections, but is it worth the financial gamble?

I've done this with trainers, or a new coat, say, where I've noticed something like a small stain or scuff, and thought 'Oh, it's nothing, I'll hang on to them', only to find myself putting them on flea-bay 3 weeks later and losing money. The financial consequences are a bit different where a new car's concerned.

Choose wisely young Luke ;)

Never thought of it like that

tbh man you sound exactly how any of the rest of would feel. If you bought furniture and it was like that you would walk.....how much more expensive than furniture is your car. I think for the extra few pound you would be more at ease in the long run......it's unfortunate as you obviously love the car.

cant beleive you are still thinking of going ahead with it.

walk,walk walk away.

youll never be happy with it, youll always know it has been a brand new repaired car ?? ( if that makes sense )

Sorry mate, but now that it turned up damaged and they have had another go at fixing it and they still can't get it right, I would have to say that I don't think it's a new car any more.

If you have a rust issue, are they going to reject it due to a dodgy respray or say speak to the body shop that did it? If they do that's a lot of pain.

Just reject the car as it's not how it should be.

As for what to do, I'd still stay with what you know for now.

I have to echo whats been said...

They've had a chance to rectify (I still can't believe the initial poor fit was considered within tolerance!) and you're still, justifiably in my opinion, unhappy - nothing wrong with that. I'd be the same in this situation. Its time to say thanks but no thanks.

If its a matter of the trade in value changing, I'd say get this tradein car sold to the dealer as agreed and ask them to provide you with a loan car until your replacement car arrives. There's no reason why you should lose out here.

I looked over my car last night for panel gaps - its perfectly straight and even so yours should be too. Likewise any repair should match and if your misses has spotted the difference, well, this says it all!! ;)

Stick to your guns - you will always have a niggle otherwise.

Had one last look at it today.

The nail in the coffin for me was touching the edge of the wheel arch with my finger and paint flaking off. On closer inspection it's almost like there was a hollow bubble in the paint which broke as I touched it. Now there's like a 5mm little crater there where it was with rough paint ready to come off around it - just waiting for a pressure washer...

Combine that with the badly painted parking sensors and the missing and mottled paint on the bit under the rear light cluster and it just makes me wonder if there might be general problem with the quality of the paint or how it was applied.

I'm now fully happy just to keep my old car.

Wega,

Walk away from this nightmare and start again.

Really sorry to read this.

You must be gutted.

Leave it a few months and try ordering again.

Good luck ...Anthracite of course!! ;)

Gutted for you, but pleased at the same time.

You've made the right choice!!!

Got your deposit back etc?

Will you be looking to replace it again in the near future, or do you have a nasty taste in your mouth?

All the best with it! :)

I think Skoda have an epic fail on their hands this time

Sorry to hear about the aggravation but I think you're making the right choice

How have the garage taken your decision? Hope their customer service as remained as pleasant as it was when they hoped you would still accept the vehicle.

Just think about the money saved on the depriciation value by accepting the car THAT you wont be happy with, against its re-sale value and........... WALK away..

Start again and hopefully things will work out better for you...best of luck :'(

It's not officially rejected until tomorrow morning. Waiting for a call back from Skoda customer services to see if they want to reconsider their position.

BTW, hello to SUK Customer Services :hi: This thread has got 6000 views :o

Good choice to stick with your trade in. Walk away from this trouble. Enjoy your "old" car and revist a change if you still feel like it later. There will be other deals.

I'd run from it.

If you haven't already done so, take photos of the bodged repair in case they start trying to wriggle.

That sounds ominous, what position have they to reconsider, surely they are not trying to say you have to accept the car?
