Yeti SE 140 tdi ordered on the web.

Featured Replies

I have had 4x4 vehicles and Landrovers for years well over a quarter century. I still have a 101FC Command Cab but it has been demoted by my Volvo TGB. I will have to get around to selling my 101 FC some day but I have had it over 20 years so I am just a little attached and keep putting off the inevitable. I do like green colours.

Well I have asked you'all for your views on my carquake purchase venture and received them, many thanks for that, I've done the research on prices with Carquake, Broadspeed, DtD and Skoda Store etc,etc and still haven't got me a Yeti on its way. However I can now say that I had a feeling of unease with the carquake deal it just didn't make me feel secure at the finish.

It appears after completing the webpage Carquake formalities none of the people I've spoken to or emailed are actually franchised car dealers, I think they're just finance houses who deal through fleet sales companies. I reckon I "bottled it" when I got an order form through to sign from a company in Mansfield and had to send it back to a different crowd in Chesterfield both finance houses.

The DVLA advised me against allowing the suppliers retention of the V5, the OFT certainly don't like the V5 retention practice on preregistered new vehicles, dealer franchise associations know it happens but frown on it, my insurance company said they would prefer a V5 but a bill of sale would also do, and of course SWMBO read the forum posts and gave me the famous "you wouldn't dare look". So I am back to looking for a Yeti, also looking for a guide to take me to the mountainous lands where they abide!!! I will post again when I've got one and need a tow bar and electrics. All the best and thanks.

I'm a little confused. When I used Skodastore I was put directly in contact with a fanchised Skoda dealer and from then on it's been a normal transaction, including the finance etc. After initially speaking to the Skoda saleman on the phone we decided to drive up and see them as I prefer to arrange these things face to face.

Skoda store were very quick to respond when it was the Octavia Scout I was after but then I changed tack to a Yeti and got the better quote with Carquake then subsequently discovered the preregistered and V5 issue with that offer and chased around after that complication before finally pulling the pin. Now I'm back on the Bigfoot trail awaiting Skoda stores' contact to get in touch with me, I'm hoping to hear fairly soon, I don't need finance or part ex so it shouldn't be that long, I have discovered by phoning around that the Yeti has gone down a storm and even in the present financial climate they're really selling like hot cakes so maybe it's the supply and demand conundrum.

Finally tracked down a Yeti thru Drive the Deal and paid my deposit via credit card yesterday. The supplying Skoda dealer is supposed to contact me directly early next week. The deal if it comes thru is £18,184.00 for unregistered Yeti SE 2.0 TDI CR (140) in Brilliant silver metallic, off road button, towbar prep, spare wheel, TPM, mats. 3yr skoda warranty and UK assist, 1st reg fee and 12months road tax. Now providing there are no extra hidden charges! I am very pleased with the cost. Hopefully my hunting around will still pay off.

why not just buy a ex demo at a dealers, if your that worried about depreciation? most of the demo's i've seen are around the £18k mark and are the Elegance spec. I would rather immediate delivery and an Elegance spec for 18k than wait 3 months for a new SE spec for 18k. If you keep your cars that long i fail to see the point in what you are trying hard to achieve?!

I beleive that if you buy a heavily discounted possibly the at lowest price available vehicle from a brokers that depreciation will not be that heavy . Many used example, I beleive are expensive in some cases, more expensive than a brand new discounted car. I feel that Pityaka has probably taken the best available option for the Yeti. He has exactly what he wants at a very competitive or at the best possible price. It has not been subjected to any abuse by an previous owner, has not been an abused dealer test car that might later go on to have some future problems. It will be of the very latest specification and updates.

Totally agree with this one. Ive driven a number of demo Yeti's (pretty hard) :smirk: and I wouldnt want to be buying one after many others have done the same over the course of a few thousand miles, not allowing them to have any warm up time etc for each short journey.

I really don't fancy an ex demo and I'm not at all worried about depreciation specifically because I will keep the vehicle a good period of time if it lives up to my standard of quality and engineering, I've not seen an elegance in the only colour SWMBO will have which is brilliant silver metallic, I have a Golf, a Defender 90 and a motorbike so I don't need transport in a hurry and I have the patience to await delivery albeit 12 weeks away. Its winter time, the fishing lakes' frozen and I'm just messing about either in the veg garden or on the computer so its not really hard work and if all I've achieved is a couple of grand saving I don't mind. How much diesel will £2000.00 buy!!!

If the supplying dealer is the one we going through (via DtD) then you shouldn't have any problems. Communication has been very good and I have no complaints. They even agreed to our request to put back delivery to 1st March even though the vehicle arrived with them at the end of Jan.

So, so far so good, but obviously final view will have to wait until we pick up the car.

Thanks for that John, the dealer who will contact me I believe is in the London area so as we're only 75 miles away in Gloucestershire just off the A40 it should be a doddle to arrange pick up. Your dealer guy seems accomodating so good luck with your purchase, don't forget to post when you get it, let us all know what you think and add your name to the owners list. Happy motoring. Good choice, same as mine

probably the same London dealer as me, very nice people although a little slow on the paperwork.

You could have got a ex demo of course but that would be a 2009 model, this way you get a 2010 plate and the spec you want.

Cheers, Dave
