vRS TFSI Quaife LSD

This should give you a better idea of what is involved to install one

That doesn't look too bad if there is lifting gear and good workshop tools at your disposal...won't be doing it myself though

After reading many different reviews and opinions of guys id be quite tempted with either the new pelequin diff that has just been released, or the wavetrac, as both are said to outperform the quaife in alot of areas

I heard (from a pretty reliable source) that they were comparable but the Quaife was a tad easier to fit

Did you say Philidelphia or Columbia? :smirk:

Besides you'd never get 12KG up your a*se :rofl::rofl:

:rofl: Didn't think that one through, did I?

I'm having a local mechanic aka 'mate' remove the gearbox from the car for me but I hope to do the majority of the actual diff swap myself. It's booked in with him on the 20th so should be able to review it on the 21st

The first time you pull out to accelerate/overtake, keep hold of that steering wheel. The "pull" certainly caught me out a few times. :D

Yeh I've been warned about that already but thanks for the heads up

No worries. Was a little disconcerting nearly hitting the offside hedge before completing my first overtake with the diff.... Traction is out of this world in most condition when an open diff will just spin one wheel. :) Also really helps in the snow too.

it does this in the wet alot as well. When i had the VWRacing Golf GTI which had practically every avaialbe performance mod bolted to it, it was horrific in the rain and bumpy road. The wheel was wrenching around like crazy as it searched for the traction. It deos work a treat though

I'd planned to take it very steady at first anyway as I do know they take some getting used to, but as you say benefits far outweigh these cons

its just a different driving style. People who are used to quaifes reallystruggle without them as they power out on bends to early, causing traction and understeer issues, then slate the car normally, when they need a different less aggressive driving style. Once you have had an LSD you'll not want a FWD without one

Yeh. Definitely the missing piece in the puzzle, should make it so awesome to drive

Looks good Harry. Hopefully I'll see you and the motor at a meet soon emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I'm going down with a few to an RR at RS Tuning at the end of this month on the 30th if you fancy it :)

Touché

After having a volvo 850R and Integra DC2 with a LSDs it really annoys me that i dont have the funds to fit one in my mk1 Octavia at the moment, a very worth while upgrade imo.

It's a MegSport one. My mate Chris with the R26 is going and mentioned it. But there's other bits and bobs running too.

Look what arrived today :D

You fitting it this weekend, Harry?

Mine is going on at the end of next week :p

On the 20th mate so you might beat me to it.

I'm a trend setter, see ;)

You gone for a Quaife too?

Yes, I don't think there is much in it with Peloquin and it was more a flip of the coin and the mechanics experience with Quaife that put me down that road.

Not looking forward to drilling out the rivets to remove the crown wheel :(

Ps - I heard that a couple of good quality drill bits are essential and the constant force of using a drill press helps if you can get your hands on one
